Canadian broadcasters are certainly feeling the effects of the NHL lockout with the stalled labour talks starting to hit them where it hurts.

“We miss it every night that we don’t have a live game. We miss the audience that it brings to our network,” TSN president Stewart Johnston, told Cartt.ca.

Johnston said the network feels the effects most during the week when replacing Wednesday Night Hockey telecasts with basketball games.

“Midweek, we certainly are feeling the pain. Those audiences are led into our news broadcasts, and they don’t have that big driver in hockey,”

CBC is also taking a hit, missing out on key ad revenue and audiences. Continue reading »
