Want to know which shows have been the most popular so far this summer with Canadians? So You Think You Can Dance is number one overall; starting with the Wednesday night performances, and followed by the Thursday night results show. Many of the other hit summer shows that make the list are aired by CTV. CSI Miami, Merlin, and CSI New York all make the top 5.

The top Canadian shows viewed by Canadians so far this summer, are the hit new show the Listener which brought in 1.079 million viewers the week of June 15- June 21st , which took 6th place overall with Canadians and Canada’s Next Top Model at #27 with 707,000 viewers last week.

While some shows have clear popularity with Canadian viewers, the declining numbers for many shows demonstrate that many Canadians are getting outside and stepping away from the TV to enjoy the nice summer weather.

With some of Canada’s most popular shows wrapping up their seasons for the summer; it’s time for Canadians to wonder what’s new on TV to watch during the long summer evenings when it’s time to seek shelter from the heat and curl up in front of primetime television.
Fortunately Canadians, this summer will not be all about reruns (although you will find quite a few of those as well) on TV; some new shows and old favorites will be airing new episodes for your viewing enjoyment. Tune into a few of my picks below, and stay tuned to read synopses for some of the new network TV shows that you will be watching for the first time. Wondering which shows Canadians are watching every week on Canada’s top television networks? Curious if your favorite shows are everyone else’s too? Last week BBM answered these questions and more, with their count of the number of televisions around Canada that tuned into American and Canadian TV shows alike, every minute, during airtime.

Surprisingly, Grey’s Anatomy took #1 for the week, beating out both days of American Idol with 2,375 Canadians tuning into CTV’s hit show (naturally, all awaiting Derek and Meredith to bring some closure to their relationship). Not surprisingly, Thursday’s results episode of American Idol, beat the performance series on Wednesday night by a small margin at 2,185 versus 2,105.

Other popular shows that make an appearance in Canada’s top 10 viewed last week are:

4. CSI New York
5. Amazing Race 14
6. ER (the series finale episode)
7. CSI Miami
8. The Mentalist
9. House
10. NCIS

No Canadian shows appeared in last week’s top 10, but a few did make the cut in the top 30 viewed, including:

13. CTV Evening News
14. Corner Gas
20. Juno Awards
21. Rick Mercer Report
