AmericanIdol2013Is Randy Jackson’s departure from American Idol today the final nail in the coffin for the once mighty series?

The show certainly isn’t the behemoth it used to be. It was unstoppable in the days of Jackson, Cowell and Abdul, owning the #1 position in its US timeslot from 2003-2011.

Nowadays, the show pulls an average of 11 million per episode, which is less than half of what it was managing a few years ago.

L.A. Reid has confirmed he will not be returning to The X Factor next season.

The Epic Records head honcho will depart the show after spending two seasons on the judging panel in order to return to his job at the record label.

“I have the utmost respect for Simon Cowell,” Reid said this week. “He is the very best, and I have had the opportunity to learn so much from him. Working with him on X Factor has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’m honored to have sat on the panel with such incredible talent.” Continue reading »
