Ex-Sopranos star James Gandolfini is involved in a project with HBO which may see him return to the small screen.

HBO is working in tandem with the actor in producing an adaptation of French Canadian series Taxi 22. Gandolfini is at this stage an exec producer only but could well make his return as the lead in the new series.

The Canadian TVA series is currently in its fourth season and stars Patrick Huard as the character of Rogatien Dubois Jr.

Gandolfini’s production company Attaboy Films would produce the HBO series, alongside writer Dave Flebotte, executive producers Nancy Sanders, Mark Armstrong, Dennis Erdman, Clark Peterson, Francois Flamand and Huard himself.
