The YTV series will return to screens on Monday, July 15 at 7pm ET/PT, showcasing a new generation of young Canadians hoping to hit the big-time.

The show’s returning music industry judges include R&B star Keshia Chanté, music industry exec Mark Spicoluk and Canada’s country sweetheart Tara Oram. NextStar2013The new host has been announced for The Next Star.

YTV has confirmed the appointment of Carlos Bustamante (YTV’s The Zone, Big Fun Movies) as the new host of the kid’s competitions series’ sixth season.

Carlos will be joining the cross-Canada audition tour with returning judges Keshia Chanté, Tara Oram, and Mark Spicoluk, to usher The Next Star’s new hopefuls from their first audition to finale.

As a long-time host of YTV’s The Zone, Big Fun Movies and the celebrity interview specials One 2 One, Carlos has interviewed A-list celebrities including One Direction, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. Continue reading »

This week on YTV’s top-rated series The Next Star, after introducing a wild card contestant to the mix, the judges had the difficult task of whittling down the talented pool of 13 finalists to six.

Corus Entertainment’s kid and family network YTV is teaming up with Sears Canada, Hilroy and The Allan Candy Company Ltd. on product integrations for Season 5 of its top-rated series The Next Star, which premieres on tonight (Monday, July 16) at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Canadian retailer Sears will be integrated in 30-second shopping vignettes featuring the Top 6 finalists and a Sears Trend Director showcasing the latest back-to-school fashion trends.

The final six will make an appearance at the Toronto Eaton Centre Sears store together for a fan appreciation event and will individually visit their hometown Sears store for autograph signings. Corus Entertainment announced today that top-rated YTV series The Next Star returns for a fifth season (11 x 60) beginning Monday, July 16 at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Over 4000 Canadian kids auditioned during The Next Star’s cross-country audition tour this spring with hopes of making it into the Top 12 but only one will be voted The Next Star and receive the grand prize at the series’ Finale on Sunday, September 23 at 7 p.m., broadcast live from Canada’s Wonderland.

Rev up your vocals, kids! Corus Entertainment’s YTV is pleased to announce that Season 5 of the network’s top-rated series The Next Star will once again embark on a nationwide, six-city search for Canada’s next young singing sensation.

Auditions begin Saturday, April 28 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and continue throughout the month of May. Gemini-nominated host Adamo Ruggiero returns and welcomes JUNO Award-winning R&B/pop sensation Keshia Chanté, country sweetheart and TV personality Tara Oram, and A&R extraordinaire and label exec Mark Spicoluk as this year’s judges and mentors.

After auditioning with over 4,000 kids from across the country, mastering her sound and style as one of the Top 6 and performing at the sold-out live finale at Canada’s Wonderland, Charlie Storwick from Calgary, AB has been chosen by Canadians as The Next Star.

As the winner of The Next Star, Charlie receives a distribution deal with Warner Music Canada and the Kool-Aid Jammers Ultimate Jam Space, featuring a 15” Macbook Pro, professional recording software and gear, a Songwriter Deluxe courtesy of Gibson Guitar.

Showcasing performances by each of the six finalists (April, Charlie, JD, Milly, Parker, Shania), the finale also featured performances from Allstar Weekend, Kay and newly signed Warner Music Canada recording artist Victoria Duffield. Other guests who attended the event include Madison Pettis and Torri Webster from the brand new live-action comedy Life with Boys, Brendan Meyer from Mr. Young and YTV personalities Carlos, Andy and Laura.

Over the past summer, The Next Star has followed six young aspiring vocalists as they were guided through The Next Star process. From musical challenges, mastering media interviews and shooting music videos, the young group has been led through the journey by host Adamo Ruggiero, judges Suzie McNeil, Christopher Ward and Steve Cranwell and other industry mentors.

Fans can enjoy The Next Star Season 4 even after it’s over as all six of the finalists’ music videos will air on YTV and be available on iTunes. The Next Star Season 4 CD is also available in music stores across Canada and on iTunes.
