-Two-Hour Series Premiere followed by MuchMoreMusic Live: James Blunt –

The Next Great American Band strums its way into A-Channel’s Friday night line-up with a special two-hour premiere, Friday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the encore presentation of MuchMoreMusic Live: James Blunt at 10 p.m. ET/PT on A-Channel (visit to confirm local broadcast times). The series continues its take-over of Friday night with two additional, special two-hour performance episodes on Friday, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Beginning Friday, Nov. 9, The Next Great American Band will air in its regular one-hour timeslot of 8 – 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Hosted by Dominic Bowden (New Zealand Idol), The Next Great American Band takes the musical reality genre to a whole new performance level with a mission to find undiscovered groups. Singer/songwriter John Rzeznik (The Goo Goo Dolls), legendary percussionist and performer Sheila E. (The Glamorous
Life, A Love Bizarre) and Australian TV personality Ian “Dicko” Dickson (Australian Idol) will serve as judges for the series from the producers of mega-hit phenomenon, American Idol.

From the auditions featured in the October 19 premiere episode, judges Rzeznik, Sheila E. and “Dicko” will narrow down the hopefuls to 12 semi-finalist bands who will perform weekly in front of a live studio audience. From hair bands to hip-hop, classic rockers to country crooners, every genre of music will be represented as the bands perform the varied styles from week to week. Then it’s up to the viewers to determine with their votes which band will secure a contract with 19 Recordings and the
title of The Next Great American Band.
