After 5 seasons on the Hills, Lauren Conrad said goodbye to one of MTV’s most popular reality TV series as the season 5 finale aired while the cast of the show walked the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards. Lauren, who has had enough of living her life in front of the cameras can be proud to leave the MTV series on a high note following last night’s episode.

During the season 5 finale, Lauren, who has been known as the voice of reason and balance (although has had her own share of drama), finally put her reservations aside and attended former friend Heidi Montag’s wedding to Spencer Pratt. While the dust seemed to settle upon the Spencer Pratt/Lauren Conrad feud, which ended last week with Pratt finally admitting and apologizing for spreading the sex tape rumors; more drama arose during the rehearsal dinner between Heidi’s sister, Holly Montag and the groom to be. After throwing a potato at another guest and ruining Heidi’s brand new, expensive purse, Spencer confronted his almost sister-in-law, calling her immature and rude. In the end, Holly Montag walked out on the rehearsal dinner, but was forgiven by her sister the next day during pre-wedding beauty treatments.

Prior to the wedding, Lauren and Lo said goodbye to their house with a group of their closest friends including Stephanie Pratt, Frankie, Doug, Audrina, Brody Jenner (and his out of place girlfriend, Jayde Nicole); who were also all attendees of the wedding, including every other cast member that’s ever made an appearance on the Hills, including Heidi’s boss Brent Bolthouse, Justin Bobby, and the newest addition to the Hills cast, Kristen Cavallari. Providing an element of creative foreshadowing, Kristen walked into the church wearing the same colour dress as nemesis Lauren, and took her place among Hills cast members after the wedding as Conrad quietly drove off into the sunset, reflecting upon the wedding and undoubtedly, her time on the Hills.

The next season of the Hills starts in the fall, and there’s no doubting that we’re in for some drama. While Lauren Conrad may have provided balance to the show and its drama, Kristen is about to rock the boat!

The reality is, there’s never been a night like this! After five seasons, fans say goodbye to Lauren Conrad with her last appearance on THE HILLS during the one-hour season finale at a special time and date, Sunday, May 31 at 8 p.m. ET on MTV. Fans won’t even have time to catch their breath as the evening is then handed over to SNL skit-master and host Andy Samberg at 9 p.m. ET for the 2009 MTV MOVIE AWARDS. MTV’s biggest night ever features highly anticipated performances from hip-hop heavyweight Eminem and burgeoning international rock stars Kings of Leon, as well as sneak peeks of the new Twilight film New Moon and summer blockbusters Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

It’s never easy to say goodbye. MTV keeps fans glued to the couch for a special eight-hour HILLS marathon beginning at 3 p.m. ET on May 31. For those who missed out on any of the double-crossing, boyfriend-stealing and altar-crashing antics of Season 5, catch up with Lauren and the gang. Helping viewers cope with LC withdrawal, Canada’s own Dan Levy and Jessi Cruickshank join viewers with interstitials within THE HILLS beginning at 7 p.m. ET, live from the red carpet at THE 2009 MTV MOVIE AWARDS. All of the action culminates to the highly-anticipated season finale of THE HILLS airing at 8 p.m. ET.

Before THE HILLS Season 5 comes to an end, aficionados Levy and Cruickshank bid Lauren Conrad farewell when she heads to Toronto to join them for what could be the last time when the THE HILLS LIVE AFTER SHOW finale is simulcast live with the MTV U.S. on Monday, May 25 at 10:30 p.m. ET on MTV.

May 31 on MTV:
3 p.m. THE HILLS Season 5 Marathon
7 p.m. Dan & Jessi on the Red Carpet / THE HILLS Marathon continues
8 p.m. THE HILLS Season Finale
9 p.m. 2009 MTV MOVIE AWARDS Live

Fans of MTV’s series the Hills know that star Lauren Conrad has said that this season will be her last. After appearing on reality television since her high school days when she co-starred on another MTV series Laguna Beach, the reality TV star feels now is the time to shift her focus to her fashion career and take herself out of the constant spotlight. While MTV has yet to officially confirm whether the Hills will continue filming after Conrad’s departure from the series, there has been a great deal of speculation regarding who will replace her.

Further fueling these rumors this weekend at Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt’s church wedding was guest Kristin Cavallari. Formerly one of the highly spotlighted cast members of Laguna Beach, who filmed the series alongside Lauren Conrad, the former star has fallen off the radar. There have been rumors brewing for a while that Cavallari would make a guest appearance on the Hills, but after catching the wedding bouquet this weekend at the Speidi wedding (of course in front of the hills cameras) perhaps this is an indication of things to come.

While Cavallari does have connections to Lauren Conrad, and another Hills cast member, Lo Bosworth, outside of reality TV, the aspiring starlet should have no association with the other cast members of the hit MTV series. So, if we can’t expect to see more of her on the Hills, why was she at the wedding?

Will Kristen Cavallari replace Lauren Conrad on the Hills? And if not, who will it be?

Picking up right where it left off, the Season 5 premiere of MTV’s juggernaut hit series THE HILLS had more than 250,000 total viewers across the country glued to their TV sets last night.  With rumours flying around about Lauren Conrad’s expected departure from the show, not to mention the possibility that this could be the last season, back-to-back premiere episodes were the two most-watched programs across all of Canadian specialty television for the entire day with more than 200,000 viewers (P12-34).  The shows were also a massive hit with teens on Monday night, making MTV the most-watched channel on Canadian television (including conventional networks and Canadian and US specialty channels) from 10 p.m. -11 p.m. ET (T12-17, F12-17, F12-24, F12-34).

Immediately after, MTV Canada’s home-grown smash THE HILLS LIVE AFTER SHOW dished all the high drama and juicy gossip.  With hosts Dan Levy and Jessi Cruickshank chatting with fans across the continent about the tear-jerking talks that rekindled friendships and the all-out bar brawls between the boys, THE HILLS LIVE AFTER SHOW won its timeslot as the most-watched specialty program from 11-11:30 p.m. ET (P12-34, A18-34).

THE HILLS continues to dish the drama next Monday, April 13 at 10 p.m. ET followed after by THE HILLS LIVE AFTER SHOW at 10:30 p.m. ET.
