The Franchise: A Season with the San Francisco Giants

Astral’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) are taking subscribers inside the dugout for a behind-the-scenes look at the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants.

The Franchise: A Season with the San Francisco Giants will be introduced to Canadians with a special half-hour episode on Wednesday, July 6 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the one-hour series premiere on Wednesday, July 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, day-and-date with Showtime in the US.

Following the debut of the half-hour sneak peek, Canadians will have a chance to sample the episode free-of-charge beginning Thursday, July 7 on the following platforms:

– the free Video On Demand services offered by Rogers, Bell Fibe TV, Cogeco, Source Cable, Shaw and Shaw Direct

– the free Online Video On Demand services offered by Rogers On Demand Online, Shaw On Demand Online and Shaw Direct On Demand Online

From Major League Baseball Productions and Showtime, The Franchise: A Season with the San Francisco Giants is a seven-part, one-hour documentary series that follows the San Francisco Giants as they begin the task of defending their World Series title through the 2011 season. Cameras will be embedded with the team on and off the field through the trade deadline, giving viewers a rare glimpse into the lives of the players, coaches and team personnel as they experience the highs and lows of a rigorous baseball season. Putting the spotlight on players and coaching staff such, the series will offer highly coveted insight into the professional lifestyle and baseball experience through the eyes and ears of the men who live and breathe the sport.

All episodes of the series will be simulcast on The Movie Network and Movie Central’s High Definition channels, and will be available on demand. Episodes will also be available on The Movie Network OnLine with Bell TV Online, Rogers On Demand Online and Videotron’s Illico Web, and Movie Central Online with Shaw Video On Demand and Bell TV Online following their network premieres.
