The Bachelor

Once upon a time there was a handsome bachelor looking for his wife. But to find his true love he had to leave his home, travel half way around the world and come to America.

After a global search of the world’s most eligible men, the man we’ve found is a proper British gentleman.

Ladies, meet Matthew Grant. An International banker from London, England.

You can read Matthew’s profile here.

Tonight Matthew will get to meet 25 American Bachelorettes. Only one of them will get the chance to become Mrs Matthew Grant.

Matthew is incredibly nervous about meeting the girls. He feels privileged to be the first international bachelor.

The first Limo arrives and out steps an equally nervous Amanda who has also lived in england. Amy gets Matthew to spin for her. Devon catches his eye. Kristine from North Carolina is another Blonde who is wearing a dress that Matthew comments on. Chelsea from Santa Barbara wants to arm wrestle later.

The next limo pulls up and Erin H greets him and shows off a large ring which she says is just there until he replaces it. Kelly is happy to meet Matthew. Rebecca picks that he’s from England. Denise is happily surprised to see that he’s British. Erin S is very confident.

The third limo arrives and Robin also lived in London but is more into soccer than rugby. Matthew loves Ashlee’s dress. Alyssa is another nervous girl. Michelle P didn’t peek so they met at the same time. She is very confident as well. Shayne is the last of the third limo.

The fourth limo arrives with five more ladies. Wearing a sari she designed herself is Marshana. Amanda P bought something for Matthew – a fluffy dice from Vegas. Tamara is another very nervous girl. Holly is from Ohio but she says she’s excited, not nervous. Tiffany thinks he looks sharp.

The final Limo arrives and Carri greets Matthew with a kiss. In a sparkly dress is Stacey who is very flirty. Lesley, a youth minister greets Matt with a subtle kiss on the cheek. Michele R greets Matthew before the final girl, Noelle, arrives. She’s one of the many girls who are suckers for accents.

The girls are all blown away by how good looking Matthew is and are talking about it over bubbles inside.

The host, Chris, tells Matthew that he will bring him an Impression rose shortly which he must give to the girl that has impressed him the most tonight.

He walks in to big smiles. He tells them they are all far above his expectations. Matthew says that yesterday he was on the Piccadilly line in London and now he’s in Los Angeles in a mansion with 25 ridiculously gorgeous women. He’s hoping that his future wife is somewhere in the mansion.

Chris walks in with the first impression rose and Matthew wasn’t expecting it so quickly. Everyone wants the rose. Chelsea wants to arm wrestle. Matthew arm wrestles her and lets her win. Carri tears a piece off an aluminum can with her teeth after Denise was telling Matthew how big a Bush fan she is as part of a political discussion. Matthew thinks the timing was superb and cracked him up.

Rebecca busts some moves in the living room. Shayne is observing the vultures trying to tear their pound of flesh from Matthew.

Tiffany is talking to Matthew when Holly interrupts saying it is her turn. Tiffany asks her to give her 2 minutes. Marshana wants to be the last person to impress him so she is fresh in his mind.

Ashlee wrote Matthew a song. Matthew tells her to “fire away” but she doesn’t understand his British colloquial term. Matthew likes her voice.

Amanda has chronic hiccups which she gets when she’s nervous.

Michelle acknowledges that the impression rose is desired by everyone. To get his attention, she plays some clarinet for him. She assembles it and plays and some of the other girls come in to see what is going on.

Shayne is wondering what it really takes to win his affection after hearing musical instruments and seeing gymnastics.

Stacey is getting offside with many of the girls. It doesn’t take long for the claws to come out. Stacey is confident she will win.

Matt sits with Stacey and Erin H. Matthew really likes Erin and while trying to have a conversation with her, Stacey has her hand on his thigh.

Stacey makes a fool of herself. She seems completely clueless. Erin S rescues Matthew and takes him away. Stacey interrupts and stuffs her underwear into a pocket. Matthew finds it disgusting.

Stacey then falls asleep while the rest of the party continues.

Shayne was one of Matthews big attractions when he first saw her. She’s really sweet and down to earth.

Matthew talks to Noelle and discovers they’re both the babies of their families.

Matthew says that Robin was one of the girls that when he first met her that there was a connection. They talk about travel and her time in England. They speak French and Robin says that she has butterflies.

Matthew says that it has been one of the best evenings of his life. He says that one has definitely shone the brightest.

Matthew decides to give the rose to someone who probably wont be expecting it. He calls Amanda out and tells her that the first moment he saw he she blew him away. He gives her the rose which she gratefully accepts.

The other 24 girls are feeling a little let down but that’s the game.

Chris comes in banging a glass and says it’s time for the first rose ceremony.

At the first rose ceremony, Chris tells the ladies that there are only 14 roses left and 10 of them will be going home.

Matthew picks up a rose and calls Chelsea out and asks her to accept the rose. Of course, she does. Shayne, Michele P, Marshana, Ashlee, Noelle, Erin S, Amy and Carri each receive a rose. Kristine accepts her rose as does Robin. Three roses remain. Kelly takes one. The remaining girls look nervous and upset. Holli takes one leaving only one more. Taking the final rose is Erin H.

Matthew is sorry to have to say goodbye to 10 of the girls but is happy with the 15 girls he’s chosen.

Stacey is happy not to have been chosen because he wouldn’t have been able to keep up with her.

A native of Bishop’s Stortford, a short distance from London, this Renaissance man received his B.A. in modern history and politics from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. He was captain of the university’s rowing team and plays rugby, cricket, tennis and skis. A workout buff, his other passion is current events. Matt is looking for a woman who is adventurous, playful and fun, who loves to travel and enjoys the outdoors. He’s definitely attracted to American women — whom he finds extroverted and gregarious — and he adores their accents. Matt has had an American girlfriend in the past and can’t wait to fall in love again, despite having been bitten twice before.
