The Amazing RaceA former Toronto Maple Leaf has been cast in the latest season of The Amazing Race.

Bates Battaglia will set off with his hockey-playing brother around the world in an attempt to make it back first to win the $1 million prize.

Left wing Battaglia played for the Leafs between 2006 and 2008 and over the course of his career had stints with the Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche and Washington Capitals.

The series returns to CTV on Sunday, 17 February at 8pm ET/PT.

The Amazing RaceThe new group of racers to be unleashed onto the world courtesy of The Amazing Race have been revealed.

Among them are professional hockey players, roller derby moms, YouTube personalities and descendant of none other than the Duke himself, John Wayne.

According to CBS the teams will “skydive from 10,000 feet in Bora Bora, participate in a Shemozzle race in New Zealand, hunt for scorpions with the Bushmen of Botswana and scale the treacherous north face of the Eiger Mountain in Switzerland.” Continue reading »

CTV announced today its hot mid-season schedules, including the much buzzed-about psychological thriller, The Following (Jan. 21) and new original drama series Motive (Feb. 3).

The two series are among seven brand-new programs coming to CTV and CTV Two in 2013, including Do No Harm (Jan. 31), Golden Boy (March 8), Cult (Feb. 19), Red Widow (March 3), and Family Tools (May 1).

The CTV schedule is also bolstered by the return of ratings stalwart American Idol, critical darling Smash, and a new season of Top 3 hit The Amazing Race. Continue reading »

Homeland and Modern Family were the big winners at the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday evening.

Damian Lewis and Claire Danes both took home the prizes for lead actor and actress in a drama series while Homeland claimed the top drama prize, beating the likes of Mad Men and Downton Abbey.

Co-creators Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon also claimed the Emmy for outstanding writing.

In the comedy category, Modern Family reigned supreme. The ABC series picked up its third consecutive Emmy for outstanding comedy series while Eric Stonestreet and Julie Bowen won prizes for supporting actor/actress in a comedy series. Continue reading »

This season, which marks the 21st race around the world for THE AMAZING RACE, features a new twist to the game that raises the stakes for the entire race. The team to win the first leg of the season and outrace the others is given the opportunity to double their money and win a $2 million dollar grand prize. This season’s cast includes a pair of Chippendale dancers, married monster truckers, a world champion lumberjack, and a double amputee professional snowboarder.
