On July 6th, the TCON Promotional Society announced the winners of the sixth annual Constellation Awards, honouring excellence in science fiction film and television.

The ceremonies, hosted by Toronto-born actor Robin Dunne of the science fiction series Sanctuary, were held in the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North.

Despite its cancellation in 2011 after only two seasons, the Vancouver-based series Stargate Universe proved that it is still fondly remembered by its devoted fans by taking home the award in five of the six categories in which it was nominated, including “Best Series”, “Best Film Or Television Script”, and “Best Female Performance in a Television Episode” for actress Ming-Na.

A bittersweet moment of the night came when the show’s musical composer, Joel Goldsmith, was recognized posthumously in the category of “Best Technical Accomplishment”. Continue reading »

The wait is almost over for the greatly anticipated conclusion of SPACE’s most-watched series, STARGATE UNIVERSE (SGU).

The final 10 episodes of critically acclaimed SGU begin airing Tuesday, March 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Episodes are also available on demand at immediately following the television premiere.

Premiering in Oct. 2009 on SPACE to a record-breaking audience of 624,000 viewers, SGU went on to become a ratings juggernaut as the most-watched series on the channel. The critically acclaimed SGU has been nominated for over 20 awards, including a 2010 Emmy® for “Outstanding Visual Effects and a 2010 Gemini Award.

The final 10 episodes pick up from December’s jarring cliffhanger, where The Destiny encountered two warring races and an ally thought dead returned. In the Season 2.5 premiere, “Deliverance”, The Destiny is now Locked in a battle with a Drone Command Ship and surprised by the arrival of the Aliens that abducted Rush and Chloe.
