Seed picked up five nominations including best TV show and three for best writing.

SeedA second season of Seed has been officially announced today by City.

The original single-camera comedy will return with a fresh batch of 13 episodes after production returns to Halifax this summer.

Along with the new schedule, City announced today it has greenlit Season 2 of its original single-camera, sperm-donor comedy Seed, with an additional 13 half-hour episodes from Vancouver-based Force Four Productions. Premiering to critical acclaim this past February, Seed returns to Halifax this summer to begin production. Recognized for its rich characters, quick-wit, and edgy writing, Seed has been nominated for an international 2013 Banff Rockie Award in the category of Best Sitcom. Continue reading »

Inseminating a fresh new take on family comedy, Citytv tangles together a sperm donor, his DNA, and three very different households to create a one-of-a-kind family tree with the new original series Seed, premiering Monday, Jan. 28 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT (check local listings).

Starring Toronto-born comedic actor Adam Korson (2 Broke Girls), the 13-episode, half-hour series features a talented all-Canadian cast, with one of the country’s funniest exports, Tom Green (The Tom Green Show) in a one episode guest-starring role.

From the creative team of Joseph Raso (Zombies & Cheerleaders) and award-winning writer/producer Mark Farrell (This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Made in Canada, Corner Gas), Seed joins Citytv’s midseason roster and will be followed by the original multi-camera comedy series Package Deal later this season (additional broadcast details to be announced at a later date). Citytv and Force Four Entertainment today announced that Canadian-born actor and comedian Tom Green joins the dynamic cast of Citytv’s new original comedy series Seed in a one-time guest appearance.

Ottawa-native Green, who is currently on a world-wide comedy tour and recently starred in his own comedy special, is internationally renowned for his irreverent talk show, The Tom Green Show, and roles in cult-comedies Freddy Got Fingered, Road Trip, and Stealing Harvard.

In Seed,Green will play an arrogant but insightful psychoanalyst named Dr. Stuart Meinertzhagen that will see him counselling the show’s dysfunctional families. The good doctor’s new-age methods and alternative approach put him in direct rivalry with Anastasia’s mom Janet (Laura de Carteret, The L.A. Complex), who considers Meinertzhagen a total fraud. Citytv and Force Four Entertainment today announced primary casting for the all-new, original comedy series Seed. Canadian actors Adam Korson (2 Broke Girls) and Carrie-Lynn Neales (The L.A. Complex) headline the 13-episode, half-hour series, which begins production today October 1 in Halifax.

Produced by Force Four Entertainment, Seed will air on Citytv in early 2013. Full broadcast details to be announced at a later date.

Seed is a laugh-out-loud comedy with a big heart. The series follows ill-equipped bachelor bartender Harry (Korson), who finds his foray into the world of sperm donation has resulted in kids – lots of them. Continue reading »

In its continuing support of Canadian productions, Citytv announced today it has greenlit two new original comedy series – Package Deal and Seed.

Commissioned by Citytv’s original content team and produced by Thunderbird Films and Force Four Entertainment, respectively, the two series are slated to launch exclusively on Citytv in mid-season.
