Dynamic characters and hair-raising special effects abound when SPACE unlocks the doors to the next installment of its #1 original series, SANCTUARY.

Airing Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning April 15, Season 3 of this multiple award-winning series plunges right back into the action for its final 10 episodes, with the lives of Dr. Magnus and her team hanging by a thread.

Following each episode at 11 p.m. ET/PT, hosts Teddy Wilson and  Ajay Fry lead SPACE original series INNERSPACE at it delves deep into the making of SANCTUARY with in-depth analysis, exclusive interviews and  behind-the-scenes footage.

SANCTUARY follows the adventures of the enigmatic scientist Dr. Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping) who, with her team, shelters a clandestine population of strange and sometimes terrifying beings that most believe don’t even exist. Full of twists and turns, the first half of Season 3 raised the bar on excitement with gripping storylines and new characters. In the 3.5 premiere, the adventures pick up where the mid-season finale cliffhanger left-off, with the team at the mercy of the inimitable Ranna, played by Polly Walker (CAPRICA, ROME)

Shot extensively in front of a green screen, SANCTUARY was the first series to exclusively use the industry-changing RED® camera to enhance its awe-inspiring images and locales. Over the past two seasons, SANCTUARY has been nominated for more than 50 awards including a primetime Emmy® for “Outstanding Special Visual Effects in 2008.” It won a Gemini Award for “Best Visual Effects” in 2009 and is also the winner of 7 Leo Awards in 2010, including “Best Direction.”

Dr. Magnus (Amanda Tapping), Ashley (Emilie Ullerup) and Will (Robin Dunne) retrieve two abnormal species that have the ability to camouflage so well that they are near invisible. One appears to be a vicious predator, the other a cute, furry animal but nothing is as it appears.

After capturing a particularly elusive abnormal, the plane carrying Dr. Magnus (Amanda Tapping) and Will (Robin Dunne) crashes while transporting the creature.

After thieves make a dramatic escape that baffles police, Dr. Magnus (Amanda Tapping) suspects an abnormal’s involvement.

SPACE, Canada’s science fiction, speculation and fantasy channel, announced today that it has green lit the fourth season of its original Canadian series, SANCTUARY.

A critical and fan favourite since its premiere in 2009 on SPACE, production is slated to begin on 13 new episodes of the multiple award-winning show this Spring, due to air this Fall on SPACE.

“We’re thrilled about the extraordinary support SPACE has provided since the beginning,” said series creator and executive producer, Damian Kindler. “They were the first to recognize Sanctuary’s potential and are the foundation upon which all of our success rests.”

Viewers can catch-up on SANCTUARY Season 3.0 staring Friday, Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. ET on SPACE and on-demand at spacecast.org. Season 3.5 is slated to premiere on SPACE this Spring.

When Dr. Magnus (Amanda Tapping), Will (Robin Dunne) and Ashley (Emilie Ellerup) rescue three entombed women, Will struggles to accept that the women are only suffering from a group delusion. Meanwhile Dr. Magnus suspects that the women are much more than they appear.
