Robson Arms

Nick (Fred Ewanuick) returns to Robson Arms from his world tour with a special souvenir, Anke (guest star Carly Pope, Dirt), his new Belgian wife. While she and Nick had a fantastic time travelling together, back in Vancouver her volatile personality and strong convictions come between Nick and Hal’s (Zak Santiago) lifelong friendship. Hal reaches the boiling point and is about to kick them out when Nick breaks down – he thinks he made a mistake by marrying Anke, but feels he’s made a commitment and has to do the right thing. Now Nick must decide if he’s going to stay trapped in the wrong relationship or set himself free.

CTV will introduce two special Robson Arms “sneak preview” episodes of the series’ upcoming third season next Tuesday and Wednesday night, immediately following 90-minute episodes of American Idol, Canada’s most-watched television program.* In the special two-episode programming event, Canadian comedy legend Dave Foley (NewsRadio, The Kids in the Hall) takes up residence in Robson Arms, making his series debut as the neighbourly yet manipulative new landlord of the charming Vancouver apartment building. The Robson Arms sneak preview airs Tuesday, Feb. 26 and Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 9:30 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).

Foley stars as U.S. charmer Chuck Hoskins, the new Robson Arms landlord. Together with his wife, Trixie (Allison Hossack, Falcon Beach) and her top-secret barbecue rub, they organize a seemingly friendly “meat ‘n greet” for the eclectic group of tenants living in everyone’s favourite building in Vancouver’s West End. The new landlords seem as sweet as apple pie, but this pie has a hair in it. As the season unfolds, their true intentions are revealed.

In the first sneak preview, “Gila Monster,” airing Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 9:30 p.m. ET, Chuck and Trixie waste no time in assigning Yuri (John Cassini, Intelligence) his first task. He has to evict Bobbi (Gabrielle Miller, Corner Gas) for overdue rent. To get him onside, Chuck presents Yuri with a symbol of power, a Texas-style jacket made of Gila Monster skin. Yuri is conflicted, but decides to do his job and post the eviction notice anyway. In the end, Bobbi manages to scrape up the rent money by pawning a few valuable possessions, but it’s too late, Chuck’s already promised the apartment to his wife. Will Yuri live up to his commitments, or shed his new responsibilities?

In the second sneak preview, “Geeks in Love,” airing Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 9:30 p.m. ET, newlyweds Fred (Haig Sutherland) and Alicia (Jane McGregor) are happier than a couple of Klingons spilling Romulan blood. That is, until Fred’s co-worker Bark (Will Sasso, Entourage, Mad TV) starts flirting with Alicia. Can Fred overcome his jealousy and insecurity to be Alicia’s “tiger” again?

Having mastered the art of sketch comedy with cult favourite The Kids in the Hall, Dave Foley has evolved into one of Hollywood’s leading comedic actors. The NewsRadio alum spent four seasons hosting Bravo’s hit series Celebrity Poker Showdown and had recurring roles on Will & Grace and Las Vegas. Foley also starred in the Disney films Sky High and A Bug’s Life. Upcoming projects include the feature film The Strip, where he’ll star alongside Jenny Wade (Rumour Has It) and Rodney Scott (American Dreams).
