It’s a winter of troubled teens, feisty divas and gripping original movies on Lifetime. From blood boiling stories to highly entertaining series, Lifetime’s array of compelling content will keep you warm this season as the network gets set to debut two new unscripted reality series, a selection of exclusive movies and new seasons of fan favourites throughout the month of January.

Joining the existing roster of hit series are Teen Trouble, which follows teen expert Josh Shipp as he helps families deal with their out-of-control teenagers and Double Divas, featuring Molly and Cynthia, LiviRae Lingerie shop owners, on a mission to help women with any and all intimate apparel needs.

For lovers of mystery and intrigue, Lifetime adds a trio of new and exclusive original movies to the January schedule including Prosecuting Casey Anthony (starring Emmy and Golden Globe® Nominee Rob Lowe), which chronicles the investigation of Caylee Anthony’s murder. Michael Kors replacement on Project Runway has been announced as fellow fashion designer Zac Posen.

Posen will take over Kors’ place on the judging panel alongside Heidi Klum and Nina Garcia.

Kors has been on the series since it debuted back in 2004.

In each episode, Canadian cake designers race against the clock to create a dream wedding cake for one lucky couple. A panel of three expert judges (Alexandria Pellegrino, Gordon Bailey, David MacCarfrae) helps to determine which designer will win the opportunity to have his or her cake featured at the couple’s wedding and a sweet cash prize of $5,000.



Shotgun Reno (13x30min) (World Premiere)

Shotgun Reno tracks what happens when you take one of life’s most stressful moments – the renovation of a home – and add in a life-altering event like a wedding or the birth of a child. Host Andrea Bain (Three Takes) and contractor Aaron Phyphers guide hapless homeowners through a renovation against the clock and the pocketbook in the quest for a happy-ever-after.

Mob Wives is a reality series that follows the lives of four women at a crossroads, picking up the pieces and carrying on while their husbands or fathers do time for Mob-related activities. They are struggling with their identities, their families and their futures. From The Godfather to The Sopranos to My Cousin Vinny, these women are sick and tired of the lies and stereotypes that exist about their lives and are determined to finally set the record straight.


Drop Dead Diva, Season 3 (13x60min) (Canadian Premiere)

Sunday at 10pm ET beginning September 11

Praised by critics and loved by fans, this comedic drama tells the story of a shallow wannabe model who dies in a sudden accident only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brilliant, plus-size and recently deceased attorney, Jane (Brooke Elliott, Wicked, Taboo). In the Season 3 opener, Paula Abdul reprises her role as Jane’s voice of reason to give her some sage advice about her relationship with Grayson (Jackson Hurst, The Tree of Life). The premiere also guest stars Mario Lopez and features a musical dream sequence with the cast of Drop Dead Diva, choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Keith “Tyce” Diorio. LeAnn Rimes guest stars this season as the estranged soon-to-be ex-wife to a hard-partying celebrity who is on trial for a hit-and-run case that Jane takes on.


Risky Business (13x30min) (World Premiere)

Monday at 9pm ET beginning September 12

Risky Business takes couples on a financial and emotional rollercoaster as they choose between two unconventional ways to invest their life savings. In each episode, host W. Brett Wilson guides investors as they choose between two unusual opportunities – such as investing in undervalued vintage wine labels or betting it all on a high stakes one-night-only event. The duo will stake their life savings on one investment – and Brett will invest in the other. At the end of the episode we find out how each investment performed.

Glee, Modern Family and Project Runway were among the TV shows recognised in the nominees for the annual GLAAD awards which honour the portrayal of gays and lesbians in the media.

Ricky Martin’s coming-out interview with Oprah is also up for an award as is Greek, The United States of Tara and Nurse Jackie.

Th awards will be handed out during gala dinners in New York on March 16, Los Angeles on April 16 and San Fransisco on May 14.

A pair of Project Runway spin-offs are in the works over in the US according to Variety.

The first of which will feature two ex-contestants in Santino Rice and Austin Scarlett, who have become popular designers following their stints on the reality show.

The pair will travel across the country dishing out fashion and styling tips as well as makeovers to in-need women.

The second show lined up will feature host Heidi Klum and her singer husband Seal, who openly boast a successful marriage, counselling couples on what makes a healthy relationship.

The series has a working title of Love’s Divine and will be dramatically less about fashion than the two other spin-offs including Models of the Runway.

He’s known for his style tips on Project Runway but soon Tim Gunn will be heading to the big screen to appear alongside a bunch of Smurfs.

Gunn has agreed to appear in a live-action role in the new Smurfs movie.

The fashion guru is not the only TV star to make an appearance. How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris has signed on alongside Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara and Glee’s Jayma Mays.

It is understood Gunn’s role in the movie will be an executive assistant at a major cosmetic company.

Aside from appearing on Project Runway alongside Heidi Klum, Gun has launched spin-off show Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style on Bravo.

He is also set to make an appearance in upcoming sequel Sex and the City 2.

An all-new season of Project Runway Canada makes its Global Television debut this coming January 2009.
