The daughter of an African diplomat, Iman was born in Somalia and grew up speaking five languages. She studied political science at Nairobi University where she was discovered by legendary photographer Peter Beard.

Since her first modeling assignment for Vogue in 1976, Iman was an instant success in the fashion world and a muse for fashion designers including Yves St. Laurent, Versace, Calvin Klein and Donna Karan. During her 14 years as a model, she worked with top photographers Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Irving Penn and Annie Liebovitz.

Iman’s first book, ‘I AM IMAN’, was an autobiographical sketchbook of her career that questions “the unserious business of fashion and beauty and its serious affect on identity”. Her second book, ‘THE BEAUTY OF COLOR’, is the first beauty and makeup book that truly addresses skin tones across the spectrum: Latina, Black, Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern, Native American, as well as multiple ethnicities and has revolutionized the way women with skin of colour think about beauty.

In addition to running a global beauty company, IMAN Cosmetics, Iman is actively involved in several charities, including Keep a Child Alive, The Children’s Defense Fund, For All Kids Foundation and Action Against Hunger.

Further broadening her horizon gleaned from experience and a keen eye, she has designed IMAN GLOBAL CHIC, a line of handbags, jewelry and fashion accessories sold exclusively on HSN.com

Sunny Fong - Project Runway Canada 2009

Name: Sunny Fong
Age: 32
Hometown: Toronto, ON

“I’m very serious when I need to be and I’m very crazy when I’m not serious. When people get to know me, that’s where they discover and understand that there’s this yin-yang to my personality.”

After four years in film school, Sunny Fong decided that the lengthy process of filmmaking just wasn’t his thing. Searching for some instant gratification, Sunny turned to the fast-paced world of fashion. Having taught himself to sew in high school, Sunny always designed on the side, making costumes for the films he created and outfits for his friends. In 2004 he launched VAWK, a high-end women’s wear line. After number of successful shows at Toronto Fashion Week, the line was put on hold due to lack of capitol needed to run the company. In the meantime, Sunny works as a graphic designer and continues to create fashion for a select clientele.
