Oprah’s Next Chapter

Pepsi Super Bowl XLVII Halftime ShowBeyonce will be the subject of an upcoming episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter.

The singer will appear on the February 16 instalment of the OWN series where she will talk in depth about the making of her HBO documentary Beyonce: Life is But a Dream.

The interview will air on OWN in Canada on Saturday, February 16 at 8 p.m. ET.

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (Canada) presents all new episodes of Oprah’s Next Chapter this summer beginning Sunday, May 20 ( 9-10 p.m. ET ) when Winfrey travels to Nashville, Tennessee for an intimate in-depth interview with country music superstar Carrie Underwood and her husband NHL player, Canadian Mike Fisher for their first ever television interview together.

Also announced today, Winfrey will sit down with Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker to discuss his political future on Sunday, June 10 ( 9-10 p.m. ET ). As previously announced, Sunday, June 3 ( 9-10 p.m. ET ) will feature actor Neil Patrick Harris and his family as they open their Los Angeles home to cameras for the first time.

Oprah’s Next Chapter: Carrie Underwood 

Oprah Winfrey travels to Nashville, Tennessee where she speaks with music superstar Carrie Underwood who is joined by her NHL husband Mike Fisher, marking the first time cameras have ever been invited inside their cabin retreat for an intimate, in-depth interview. Underwood reflects on her rise to stardom as she looks back on her journey. For their first television interview together, Underwood and Fisher talk about how they balance their successful and fast-paced careers with their two year marriage. The couple also takes Winfrey to their new plot of land where they plan to build their dream home.

Underwood’s new CD Blown Away recently debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country and All-Genre sales charts. The Top Country Albums chart debut made her only the second country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have their first four albums debut at No. 1. With more than 267,000 albums sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, Blown Away debuts at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart making Underwood only the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at No. 1.

Since releasing Some Hearts in 2005, Underwood has sold more than 14 million albums with Some Hearts, 2007’s Carnival Ride, and 2009’s Play On making her the best selling American Idol in the US . She’s amassed 14 No. 1 singles, six of which she co-wrote, and became the first country artist in history and the only American Idol winner ever to achieve 10 No. 1 singles from their first two albums. Underwood currently leads the nominations for the upcoming CMT Music Awards with five. She is a five-time Grammy winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Country Music Association and ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Oprah’s Next Chapter: Neil Patrick Harris

Oprah Winfrey visits Emmy-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris, his fiancé David Burtka and their 18-month old twins, Harper and Gideon, at their home in the quiet suburbs of Los Angeles. In a television exclusive, this modern American family opens their home and private family life to Winfrey and her cameras for the first time. Then, Winfrey sits down with the couple of eight years, as they speak candidly about what it was like for them growing up gay, Harris’s decision to come out in Hollywood and its impact on his career, and raising children in a household with two fathers. They open up about their private struggles in their relationship as Burtka, both a trained chef and actor, says it isn’t easy being in a relationship where one person is more famous and successful than the other. Harris speaks openly about the stress of living in Hollywood and the pressure of knowing the entire world is watching their family to see if they can go the distance. Winfrey gets a rare and intimate look inside the home life of this very private and loving family.

Oprah’s Next Chapter: Mayor Cory Booker 

Oprah Winfrey travels to Newark, New Jersey to talk to Mayor Cory Booker, one of America’s most dynamic and innovative leaders. Mayor Booker opens up to Winfrey about his political future, why he is still a bachelor, his unusually close relationship with Republican Governor Chris Christie and his near death experience in a burning building. An emotional interview with the woman that Mayor Booker saved from that building fire and two Newark families that are raising their children in the city that has been described as a “war zone” are also featured. Cameras capture Mayor Booker’s angry response to one of Newark’s most horrific crimes ever and also follow Newark gangs and late night police raids for a rare glimpse into the extreme challenges of inner city Newark. Mayor Booker also gives a tour of his new home.

Oprah Winfrey’s new primetime series Oprah’s Next Chapter (Sundays, 9 p.m. ET) will expand to air Sundays and Mondays through February on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (Canada).

The series, which features Oprah as she steps outside of the studio for riveting, enlightening and in-depth conversations with newsmakers, celebrities, thought leaders and real-life families, will expand to air part two of her in-depth interviews starting Monday, January 30 at 10 p.m. ET on OWN.

Oprah travels to Haiti with actor and humanitarian Sean Penn n early two years after one of the most devastating natural disasters in history, witnessing first-hand his work through the non-governmental organization J/P Haitian Relief Organization and discovers both heartache and hope among the Haitian people. After traveling to a tent camp run by J/P HRO that houses more than 20,000 internally displaced Haitians, Oprah meets an American girl who runs an orphanage, a Haitian businesswoman rebuilding her country through art, and speaks one-on-one with fashion designer Donna Karan about the opportunities she has created for local artists.

Oprah visits the Hasidic Jewish communities of Borough Park and Crown Heights for unprecedented access inside one of America’s most tight-knit and mysterious cultures where she learns about the daily life and their intense spiritual devotion, including raising their children with no TV, movies, internet or video games. Oprah sits down with a family of twelve as part of her visit, enjoys a traditional meal, and meets one of the few black Hasidic Jewish families in the country. Then Oprah conducts a first ever, no holds barred interview with four Hasidic mothers and wives, and gets a rare tour of a ritual, spiritual bath known as a Mikvah.

Winfrey joins several thousand people to experience firsthand one of his “Breakthrough” sessions, where she overcomes a major fear of her own – firewalking ! Oprah then sits down with Robbins for an intimate conversation about how he coached himself out of his own failures, what he believes is the secret to success and how anyone can overcome obstacles and close the gap between who they are and who they want to be.

Also coming this season, Oprah has a slumber party at Southern chef Paula Deen’s Georgia estate, travels to a small town in Iowa devoted to the practice of Transcendental Meditation, takes a trip with Deepak Chopra to India and visits with Bishop T.D. Jakes at his church in Dallas, Texas.

Corus Entertainment ‘s OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (Canada) announced today the premiere of Oprah Winfrey ‘s anticipated primetime series Oprah’s Next Chapter.

The debut episode will feature Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler from his home in New Hampshire as a two-hour premiere event Sunday, January 1, 2012 from 9 to 11 p.m. ET (day-and-date with OWN U.S.). The series continues in its regular time period beginning Sunday, January 8 from 9 to 10 p.m. ET.

“After 25 years I got myself out of the studio chairs.  I moved into the next chapter, and I am having more fun than ever – moving around the country and the world talking to people I’m really interested in getting to know and I think viewers will be, too,” said Winfrey.  “It is so energizing to be out and about in the world exploring new people, new places and new ideas.”

“I sat at the dinner table with a Hasidic Jewish family and tried to explain to the children who have never seen a television what TV is…can you imagine?  I fire-walked with Tony Robbins – never pictured myself doing that!   I celebrated the power of God and community with Joel Osteen and I’m planning a trip with Deepak Chopra to India where I’ve never been,” Winfrey added.

In this new, weekly, primetime series, Oprah steps outside of the studio for some riveting, enlightening in-depth conversations with newsmakers, celebrities, thought leaders and real-life families.

During the first season, Oprah also journeys to Haiti with Sean Penn nearly two years after the devastating earthquake that took the lives of more than 300,000 people, tours Skywalker Ranch with George Lucas as her personal guide, has a slumber party at Southern chef Paula Deen ‘s Georgia estate and travels to a small town in Iowa devoted to the practice of Transcendental Meditation.

In the two-hour premiere episode, Oprah and Steven Tyler, the frontman of Aerosmith, meet at his private family home in New Hampshire on Lake Sunapee. In a very personal conversation, Steven shares everything from his years of battling drug addiction to his newfound fame and popularity on American Idol.
