CTV’s MuchFACT is proud to announce the appointment of David Kines as the new Chairman of the organization. Kines is only the second Chair in the history of MuchFACT, filling a recent vacancy after Bernie Finkelstein retired after a 26-year tenure. Kines’ appointment takes effect immediately.
David Kines is synonymous with broadcasting and music television in Canada, having led a long and prominent career at the intersection of television, music, and pop culture beginning with THE NEW MUSIC on Citytv almost 25 years ago.
“I am honoured to help MuchFACT and Much continue to support independent Canadian musicians”, said David Kines. “The millions of dollars handed out every year helps our musicians develop careers at home and abroad.”
“No one knows more about music videos and the impact of music than David Kines,” said Brad Schwartz, Senior-Vice President and General Manager, The Much MTV Group, CTV Inc. “David has a long relationship with MuchFACT, and I couldn’t think of anyone better to help evolve the organization than him.”
Kines began his career in 1983 as an editor for THE NEW MUSIC. A year later, he helped launch MuchMusic and subsequently held positions as Coordinating Producer, Director of Music Operations, Program Manager, Vice-President, and Senior Vice-President in the years following. Kines is a graduate of Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto and holds a degree in Radio and Television Arts. Since leaving MuchMusic, Kines has been involved in a variety of projects, including Executive Producer of the 2009 and 2010 CANADA ROCKS THE CAPITAL prime-time television specials, Executive Producer of Entertainment for Molson Canadian Hockey House at the 2010 Winter Games, and Co-Executive Producer of the 2010 GEMINI AWARDS.
MuchFACT was created in 1984 concurrent with the launch of MuchMusic. Over the years, MuchFACT has directed more than 63 million dollars to over 5,200 projects all aiming to help Canadian musical artists produce materials to further their careers.
