Hosted by rising superstar Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids), The 2013 MTV Movie Awards air live from the Sony Pictures Studios Lot in Culver City, California, this Sunday, April 14 at 9 p.m. ET, exclusively on MTV in Canada.

MTVMovieAwards2013MTV today announced the stars of the hit musical comedy, Pitch Perfect, will kick off the 2013 MTV Movie Awards with a musical bang as they come together for the first time on stage to debut a never-before-heard musical mash-up live on Sunday.

Pitch Perfect stars: Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Esther Dean, Adam Devine, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Ben Platt, Brittany Snow and host Rebel Wilson will re-unite as the dueling college a cappella groups, The Barden Bellas and Treblemakers, for one not-to-miss musical performance conceived and executed by the film’s director, Jason Moore.

Rebel Wilson has been named as the host of the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.

The Australian actress will take control of the ceremony next year, which has been brought forward to take place in the spring rather than June.

Wilson has appeared in a number of popular comedies over the past year including Bridesmaids, Pitch Perfect and Bachelorette.

MTV today announced that rapper Wiz Khalifa will perform his new single “Work Hard, Play Hard” for the first time on television at the “2012 MTV Movie Awards.”

The single is the debut track from the upcoming August release of Khalifa’s second studio album, “O.N.I.F.C.”  

In addition, Adam Sandler, Emma Watson, Andy Samberg, Leighton Meester, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller are the latest Hollywood stars confirmed to hand out golden popcorn awards at this year’s ceremony.

They join previously announced presenters Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg, along with musical performer, chart-topping indie-pop group fun.

With roots in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Wiz Khalifa began rapping in the third grade and started recording his own music at the age of 14.  That early enthusiasm for his craft led to “Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania,” his first of many acclaimed mixtapes.

In 2010, Khalifa made the transition from independent artist to signed performer when in collaboration with Rostrum Records, he joined Atlantic Records. At his new label home, he began a stratospheric rise to the top of the music charts in 2011 with the release of his three-time platinum single “Black and Yellow” off his first studio album “Rolling Papers.” Khalifa’s highly-anticipated second studio album “O.N.I.F.C.” will be released August 2012.

Russell Brand has been announced as the host of this year’s MTV Movie Awards.

The British comic will host the ceremony for the first time on June 3, after taking charge of the MTV Music Awards twice in the past.

Brand said in a press statement: “This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than The Avengers, and you won’t have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out.”

The Hunger Games and Bridesmaids have received the most nominations this year, with eight apiece.

MTV today announced the first line up of presenters for the “2012 MTV Movie Awards” which includes Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg.

These film luminaries will take the stage at TV’s most irreverent awards show to present the golden popcorn in 12 all-new and returning categories. The “2012 MTV Movie Awards” will air live on Sunday, June 3rd at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

The “2012 MTV Movie Awards” will put the spotlight on the most diverse roster of nominated films in years for the show.  Featuring a broad array of movies that resonated with the MTV audience this year, the nominations include both blockbusters and critically acclaimed films such as “Drive,” “Like Crazy,” “The Descendants,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” and “My Week with Marilyn.”

This year’s telecast will also be a theatrical throwdown as two queens of comedy, Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, face off versus action star, Jennifer Lawrence, as they all received four nominations each – the most for all female actors nominated.  

Emma Stone, Emma Watson and Rooney Mara are close on their heels with three nods each and are set to battle in categories like “Best Female Performance.”  Additionally, there is a clash of the male titans brewing with Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Josh Hutcherson receiving four nominations and going head-to-head in categories like “Best Male Performance,” “Best Kiss” and “Best Fight.”

MTV today announced the 12 nomination categories for the “2012 MTV Movie Awards” which contains five all-new awards including “Best Music,” “Best On-Screen Transformation,” “Best Gut-Wrenching Performance,” “Best Cast,” “Best On-Screen Dirt Bag,” as well as “Best Breakthrough Performance” that will be awarded solely by a special Academy of outstanding directors.

Also announced today, chart-topping indie-pop group fun. will rock the stage at the “2012 MTV Movie Awards” with a performance toasting the greatest party films of all time.  “We are the Young (feat. Janelle Monáe)” off their latest album “Some Nights” held strong at the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the past six consecutive weeks.

The Golden Popcorn is almost ready as the movie event of the summer – the 2011 MTV MOVIE AWARDS – returns Sunday, June 5 at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.

Hosted by SNL funnyman Jason Sudeikis, the show broadcasts live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. On the North side of the border, MTV MOVIE NIGHT host Johnny Hockin holds things down during the broadcast with live hits from the Masonic Temple in Toronto.

Announced today is ACADEMY AWARD® winning Reese Witherspoon is set to be honoured as recipient of the MTV Generation Award. Also announced today is that Twi-hards can get their first-look into the upcoming Twilight installment, with a special sneak-peek of Breaking Dawn Part 1.
