MTV Live

Tuesday, July 3 at 6 p.m. ET on MTV

Canada’s only live-to-air nightly comedy talk program MTV LIVE returns with its daily dose of news, pop culture, and live music performances. The ensemble cast including Paul Lemieux, Nicole Holness, Sheena Snively and newly added comedic contributor Dave Merheje toe the line between inappropriate and down-right outrageous, sparking the best water-cooler conversation.

MTV announced today the return of MTV Live with new co-host Paul “The Intern” Lemieux. Brand new episodes of the Gemini Award-winning nightly comedy talk series start next Tuesday, July 3 at 6 p.m. ET.

After an exhaustive search for the best in the biz, Lemieux trades in his intern name tag and takes his place on the couch as co-host, alongside Nicole Holness. Viewers on-the-go can catch MTV Live on their mobile devices at m.mtv.ca and live on Bell Mobile TV.

In additional changes announced today, Sheena Snively – everyone’s favourite loud-and-foul-mouthed MTV LIVE correspondent – takes over controls at the MTV pod to deliver her brutally honest take on anything and everything, now a little closer to center screen. Continue reading »

Don’t adjust the TV set, MTV LIVE’s crew is coming at you – literally – for a week with MTV LIVE: IN 3D, starting Monday, March 14 at 6 p.m. ET. As announced on tonight’s show, there’s no need to break the bank on a fancy dancy new TV, MTV LIVE goes Bwana Devil styles and brings back old school 3D technology. Yes, the blue and red glasses kind.

From March 14 -16, MTV LIVE host Daryn Jones and co-hosts Nicole Holness, Paul Lemieux, and Sheena Snively bring viewers a segment in 3D. Expect to see Paul performing a Shakespearean soliloquy in a very up close and personal fashion, find out how to achieve the curvaceous body of Hamilton’s favourite lunatic diva (that’s Sheena btw), and don’t miss a special JERSEY SHORE guido vs. guidette brawl. The week culminates to a full 3D episode of MTV LIVE, airing Thursday, March 17 at 6 p.m. ET.

“I recall watching Avatar 3D in late 2009 and thinking – this is the future and I want in,” said MTV LIVE Host Daryn Jones. “Well, 18 months later, I finally got around to it.”

Don’t have glasses? Leading up to MTV LIVE: IN 3D, the MTV LIVE crew shows fans how to make their own 3D glasses at home. 3D glasses are also available at various locations across Canada. For more information on the show or to learn how to make retro 3D glasses, go to www.mtv.ca/livein3D.

Spontaneous. Dangerous. And sometimes…down right outrageous. The Gemini-award winning MTV LIVE starring Daryn Jones is Canada’s only live-to-air nightly comedy talk program. Comedian Jones leads a gang of misfits that include pop culture junkie, musician and co-host Nicole Holness, the-boy-who-never-wanted- to-be-on-TV Paul “The Intern” Lemieux, and local loud mouth Sheena Snively, who keeps everybody on their toes.

Legendary director Quentin Tarantino drops by the Gemini award-winning series MTV LIVE on Wednesday, August 12 at 6 p.m. ET/PT to promote the release of his upcoming film Inglourious Basterds, opening in theatres after August 21 from Alliance Films. Host Daryn Jones interviews Tarantino and actor Eli Roth, who plays “basterd” Sgt. Donnie Donowitz.

Set in the midst of World War II Paris, Inglourious Basterds stars Brad Pitt as Aldo Raine, a man who rallies a squad of ruthless U.S. soldiers known as the “basterds” to perform shocking acts of retribution on the enemy. Their mission, “one thang and one thang only, killing Nazis!”

Quentin Tarantino is one of the most celebrated filmmakers of his generation. Establishing a name for himself in the film industry with critically acclaimed films such as Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction (1994), Tarantino went on to create the controversial revenge flicks Kill Bill (2003, 2004) and double feature Grindhouse/Death Proof (2007). His latest project Inglourious Basterds debuted at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

MTV LIVE, in conjunction with Alliance Films, has recruited film buffs and anyone who thinks they have the balls, wit and genius to win the Inglourious Basterds contest. Over 100 spoofs were submitted of impressive “basterdized” versions of fave scenes from Tarantino flicks. The more inglorious the spoof, the greater the chance of winning the bragging rights of being named the most “inglourious basterd.” The winner of the contest will be announced on the show tomorrow and wins a Toshiba home entertainment package and gets to attend the Toronto premiere of the movie. Three MTV LIVE “basterdized” parodies were created to inspire contest hopefuls. Starring hosts Daryn Jones in “Kill Paul,” Nicole Holness in blaxploitation spoof “Nickie Brown” and Paul “The Intern” Lemieux getting sexy in “Paul Fiction,” the three parodies are available to watch on demand on mtv.ca.
