MTV today announced the final five nominees vying for the Worldwide Act distinction at the “2012 MTV EMA.”

For the past six weeks, MTV has given fans around the world a chance to vote for their favorite hometown artists, all to help that local act secure the nomination and earn a chance to represent their respective region at this year’s EMA.

More than 160 artists from every corner of the world have enjoyed the MTV EMA spotlight as part of the Worldwide Act voting competition, and now the final five Worldwide Act nominees are: Dima Bilan (Europe); Han Geng (Asia Pacific); Ahmed Soultan (Africa/India/Middle East); Rihanna (North America); and Restart (Latin America). Starting today, these five artists will go head to head in one last round of voting in the Worldwide Act category, which celebrates the range and breadth of all the music that MTV has to offer across the globe. MTV today announced that Carly Rae Jepsen, fun., and Rita Ora – three of the hottest emerging acts in music today – will each make their EMA debut with performances at the “2012 MTV EMA.”

These three were identified earlier this year as MTV PUSH acts (MTV’s initiative that recognizes the most promising artists on the brink of becoming global superstars), and they’ve already set the music industry afire.

Jepsen’s smash hit “Call Me Maybe” achieved the No. 1 spot in 47 countries and has sold an incredible 10 million singles worldwide, and her new album “KISS” debuted at No. 1 in Japan and in the top 5 in 15 countries. Continue reading »

MTV today announced the first batch of performers for the “2012 MTV EMA,” with three of the world’s most popular acts in pop and rock set to take the stage in Germany.

Global superstar Taylor Swift – whose single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” reached the #1 position atop the iTunes charts in 32 countries in its first week of release – will perform at her first ever MTV EMA.

Global stadium rock stars Muse, whose last album topped the charts in 19 countries and who have sold more than 15 million albums to date, will return to the MTV EMA stage with a performance from their sixth studio album “The 2nd Law,” which is released this week. Continue reading »

MTV today announced that Heidi Klum, one of the world’s most renowned supermodels and superstars, will host the “2012 MTV EMA.”

The multi-talented and multi-tasking entertainer and entrepreneur – whose accolades run the range from fashion guru to executive producer of a hit reality franchise – will be bringing her hosting A-game to the 19th annual awards show being held in Frankfurt’s historic Festhalle.

The “2012 MTV EMA” will broadcast live on Sunday, 11th November at 9PM CET* on MTV channels around the world, and is sponsored by partners such as Microsoft and Replay.

Get ready to shake it in real time as the 2010 MTV EUROPE MUSIC AWARDS are now airing LIVE from Madrid on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. ET, exclusively on MuchMore.

Firey songstress Shakira and breakthrough rapper Plan B also join the already stacked lineup of performers, while JERSEY SHORE’s Pauly D, Emily Osment, The Dudesons and Johnny Knoxville are set to present for Europe’s hottest night in music.

“This will be my first time in Spain and at the MTV awards,” said Plan B. “Nothing reminds me more of how far I’ve come in the last six months than opportunities like this.”

Hollywood heats up Madrid as MTV announced today that Eva Longoria is set to host the 2010 EUROPE MUSIC AWARDS airing Monday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. ET, exclusively on MuchMore.

Powerhouse rockers Kings of Leon, pop sensation Ke$ha and bad ass rock-country heavyweight Kid Rock join the performance lineup, alongside previously announced performers Katy Perry and Linkin Park. Additional performers and presenters to be announced at a later date.

“I am so excited to host the 2010 MTV EMAs in the beautiful and sexy city of Madrid!” said Longoria. “I can’t wait to see some fabulous performances and I am so proud that the two most nominated artists this year are two amazing women – Lady Gaga and Katy Perry – who are making some of the most exciting music in pop right now!”

“Madrid, watch out,” added Ke$ha. “I’m coming to party and I promise it will be messy.”
