It’s a world dominated by ferocious rivalries, fierce bonds and extraordinary risk. With more dramatic and compelling storytelling – on and off the track – Animal Planet invites viewers back for Season 2 of the popular docu-drama JOCKEYS when it returns to the gate on Friday, September 11 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT. Every day is a gamble for these men and women. In pursuit of the winning payout, each mount puts both jockey and horse at risk for serious injury or possibly even death as they race their way to victory.

The world of the racetrack is complex and controversial. This season, Animal Planet’s cameras race alongside the jockeys and their magnificent thoroughbreds through every tight turn, while capturing every tense moment in the jockey’s room or with the track stewards. Season 2 of JOCKEYS profiles the players whose dreams of fame and fortune, adoration for their horses, and love of the sport pushes them closer to the ultimate achievement – a chance to compete for the Triple Crown.

“While highlighting the sport and tremendous athleticism of horseracing, JOCKEYS also focuses as much on these passionate riders as on the creatures themselves,” said Stan Lipsey, Director of Programming for Animal Planet. “What’s fascinating about the jockeys in this series is their unique connection and dedication to their steeds. It’s a relationship between man and animal that really seems to resonate with viewers.”

As the competition heats up, step inside the locker room to feel the burn and taste the hostility. These jockeys are world-class athletes scratching their way to the top. They know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and they’ll do whatever it takes – including fighting and harassing – to achieve the pinnacle of success. And, once they leave the tense and sweaty surroundings of the locker room and mount their horses, all bets are off. These jockeys are each other’s ultimate threat, and nothing will stop them from attempting to make history on race day.

The new season of JOCKEYS follows Canadian Chantal Sutherland, Mike Smith, Kayla Stra, Alex Solis, Joe Talamo, Aaron Gryder and introduces two new jockeys Garrett Gomez and Corey Nakatani, who are at the height of their careers as they compete in the most dangerous two minutes in sports.
