Work is being done on a new project based on Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.

ITV Studios USA are developing the project which would centre on the US President’s lead-up to the 2008 Election.

Open TV and Film are working in tandem with ITV on the adaptation of a book by Richard Woolfe called Renegade: The Making of a President, which is described as a “complex portrait of the President rather than a simple tribute”.

“It is early days, but we are sure there will be no shortage of ideas for who plays the President,” Open TV’s chairman Simon Shaps said.

“The questions that have since emerged about what he’s going to do with the presidency were, to some extent, already there during the campaign. We will get to the root of what Obama wants to do with America.”

Open TV hopes to air the project within the next 12 to 18 months.
