Canadian singer Justin Bieber has cancelled an appearance on a German television show following a serious accident involving the previous guest.

Bieber was due to appear on the variety show Wetten Dass (Bet It) after a series of stunts performed by 23-year-old Samuel Koch involving a leap over a car being driven by his father.

The live broadcast of the show was canned following the incident, with Bieber tweeting: “Please pray for Samuel Koch & his family as we wait and hope for his health and safety”.

The stunt appeared to go wrong due to a malfunction with the special suspension boots Koch was wearing during the leap.

Koch suffered multiple back injuries in the fall and was in a life-threatening condition.

Bieber apologised to his German fans for the cancellation but said that “some things are more important than putting on a show. We will be back I promise”.
