I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

Tonight is the big reveal; which celebrity will win on tonight’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here? Since last night, Patti Blogojevich was voted off the show after 23 days in the jungle, we know for sure it’s not going to be her! Patti Blogojevich may not have been a celebrity in the formal sense of the world, even amongst the D-List celebrities that have participated in the show.

Patti Blogojevich filled in on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here for her husband, former Governor Rod Blogojevich, who was banned from participating in the reality series by a judge. However, Patti as his replacement quickly became a favorite of the fans and her fellow celebrity contestants. Now that she’s out of the running, we’ll just have to see which of the remaining contestants wins the competition, with all proceeds from viewer donations going to a charity of their choice.

When I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here made its big debut on NBC (Much Music in Canada) 3 weeks ago, ratings were sky high at 4.6 million viewers for the premier episode alone. But it seems that viewers were not tuning in for contestants like Janice Dickenson or Stephen Baldwin, at least not according to this week’s ratings which have dropped 28% this week since drama inducing Heidi [Montag] and Spencer Pratt.

If you didn’t guess it already, I think it’s been made clear by this week’s ratings that viewers aren’t tuning into I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here to watch D-list celebrities battle it out in support of a worthy cause; they were watching simply for the drama brought by Heidi and Spencer. And if you watched, you know that they made it worth your while, with multiple attempts to escape from the jungle camp, fights with other contestants, declarations for devout love for Jesus, and an illness that would make them leave the jungle once and for all (and I’d bet we haven’t heard the end of that).

Honestly? I can attest for the reduction in viewers; because I’m not tuning in regularly either…I’ll catch the reruns or watch the show when not much else is happening. Let’s face it, without the drama, what’s this show got to offer us?

It’s a jungle out there, and the first week of grueling competition saw dry hairspray hijinx, a Baldwin baptism, and some scheming casualties (ahem, Speidi). And with the arrival of Stephen Baldwin’s brother Daniel, things are sure to heat up.

Tonight find out who gets the boot, who will remain, and whether can’t-believe-they’re-for-real couple Heidi and Spencer are allowed back into the competition.

In case you missed all the madness, catch encore episodes this Saturday from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. ET and Sunday from 8 p.m. – 1 a.m. ET, before an all new two-hour episode on Monday, June 8 at 8 p.m. ET.

Still in the competition are actor Stephen Baldwin (The Usual Suspects), model Janice Dickinson (AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL), wrestler Torrie Wilson (WWE), NBA alum John Salley (THE BEST DAMN SPORTS SHOW), Illinois’ former first lady Patti Blagojevich, actor Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba), comedy duo Frangela, Sanjaya (AMERICAN IDOL) and actor Daniel Baldwin (Grey Gardens).

What do a blonde bombshell, reality villain, Baldwin brother, top model, bad-ass wrestler, basketball pro and hair-raising singer have in common? A whole lot of after-bite.

In a groundbreaking live event, these seven “celebrities”, Heidi Montag (THE HILLS), actor Stephen Baldwin (The Usual Suspects), model Janice Dickenson (AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL), Spencer Pratt (THE HILLS), wrestler Torrie Wilson (WWE), NBA alum John Salley (THE BEST DAMN SPORTS SHOW) and Sanjaya (AMERICAN IDOL) learn what’s it like to really rough it when they’re dropped into the heart of the jungle.

The red carpet regulars get down and dirty with challenges designed to test their survival skills, without the aid of personal assistants or blackberrys. Tune in to find out what happens when nature calls during the two-hour I’M A CELEBRITY…GET ME OUT OF HERE! premiere on Monday, June 1 at 8 p.m. ET on MuchMoreMusic.

In each episode, viewers pair their favourite celebs with their choice of challenge to win food, supplies and luxury items, before deciding who stays, and who gets the boot. While all participants will be playing for their favorite charities, the last remaining star will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle, winning the largest share of the prize for donation.

As filming for yet another Hills season draws to a close, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt just can’t get enough publicity so they are joining a new reality series set to air on NBC called “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here”. The format of the new show will be one all TV fans will be well familiar with, since D-list celebrities will be forced to live off the land and earn luxuries through challenges, just like Survivor. The new US series follows in the footsteps of the popular UK version of the show, and this series which starts in June will feature Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt of course; as well as Sanjaya (think American Idol), Torrie Wilson, Steven Baldwin, Janice Dickinson and John Salley.

No word yet if a Canadian television station will be picking up I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here for those that don’t receive NBC’s programming, but we’ll keep you posted.
