On an entertainment level, a lot of people would agree that Homeland really hits the mark but it should come as no surprise that in terms of accurately portraying the intelligence community, it appears to leave a lot to be desired.
“At the very least the show is entertaining, albeit very very unrealistic” is how one actual intelligence analyst described the drama series.
“[No TV show] really gets intelligence work right, and the reason is because intelligence work makes for boring TV. A “real” spy [show] would probably involve lots of Powerpoint presentations, and lots of people huddled over computers (still running windows xp) with empty cans of Redbull/Monster surrounding them.”
They also pointed to the character of Carrie (Claire Danes) as being highly unrealistic, given some of her actions on the show. Continue reading »
