Academy Award® winner Tommy Lee Jones and Academy Award® nominee Samuel L. Jackson star in HBO Films’ The Sunset Limited, based on the play of the same name by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Cormac McCarthy.

The searing two-character drama premieres Saturday, February 12 at 9 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada).

In a story that mixes humour and pathos, The Sunset Limited explores the relationship between two strangers brought together by desperate circumstances. Set in a New York tenement apartment, the film focuses on two very different men – a deeply religious ex-con (Jackson) who thwarts the suicide attempt of an asocial college professor (Jones) who tried to throw himself in front of an oncoming subway train called The Sunset Limited.  As the one attempts to connect on a rational, spiritual and emotional level, the other remains steadfast in his hard-earned despair. Locked in a philosophical debate, both passionately defend their personal credos and try to convert the other.

Jones shot The Sunset Limited from the text of Cormack McCarthy’s play, following several days of rehearsal with Samuel L. Jackson and McCarthy himself, with the intention of honouring the beauty and elegance of the source material.

The Sunset Limited will be simulcast on HBO Canada HD, and will be available on demand following its network premiere.

The producers of Entourage are reportedly developing a new drama series for HBO based in the adult entertainment industry.

Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson are working alongside author James Frey in developing the one-hour pilot which would boast both mainstream actors and real-life porn stars.

The series would focus on a video company which is growing increasingly worried from the threat of the internet, with a plot involving a girl from middle America who is encouraged by her boyfriend to seek stardom in LA.

“We’re going to make a sprawling epic about the porn business in LA,” said Frey. “We’re going to tell the type of stories no one else has told before, and go places no one has gone before.”
