TV’s most provocative and sexy series is back in session! New York’s fashionable and fancy-free prep schoolers are in attendance when Gossip Girl returns with an all-new second season Monday, September 1 at 8 p.m. ET on ‘A’ (visit atv.ca to confirm local broadcast times). Following its debut, Gossip Girl moves into its regular ‘A’ time-slot, Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT beginning September 7. Gossip Girl is also available on demand on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca following its television broadcast.

One of last season’s most buzzed-about shows, Gossip Girl is turning heads not only for its steamy storylines but its sense of style as well. The New York Times calls it “one of the biggest influences on how young women spend,” sparking preppy trends from headbands to sweater vests. In just one short year, Gossip Girl has become an electronic look-book for viewers and inspiration for designers. Landing the April 28, 2008 cover of New York Magazine, and named as one of People’s “100 Most Beautiful,” Gossip Girl continues to win over audiences with its hot cast, sharp scripts and imitation-worthy style. It’s also caught the ire of some media haters, with The New York Post calling it “a nasty piece of work” and the San Diego Union Tribune declaring it “very bad for you.” And in a bold move, the originating U.S. network has even used that “criticism” as the basis of its new advertising campaign.

Online, Gossip Girl is a hit with computer-savvy fans as well. “The generation watching Gossip Girl doesn’t do appointment television. They are masters at using the latest technology to watch TV when and how they want,” says Entertainment Weekly. In Canada, Season 1 was one of the most streamed entertainment programs of the year on CTV’s online video player at CTV.ca with more than two million views.

Season 1 came to a close with Serena (Blake Lively) and Dan (Penn Badgley) at a crossroads in their relationship, Chuck (Ed Westick) up to his old tricks, Blair (Leighton Meester) jet setting to Tuscany alone, and Gossip Girl there to report on it all.

Season 2 picks up as another Hamptons summer is winding down, and there’s no shortage of hot hook-ups, savvy scheming and chic conniving. And while they may have escaped the heat of New York City, there’s no escaping Gossip Girl’s watchful eye.
