tsn-logoGolf will remain a big part of TSN’s schedule for the next few years with news that a new deal has been signed with the PGA.

The multi-year deal will see TSN continue to air nine PGA Tour events a year through until at least 2018 along with coverage of the Presidents Cup in 2015 and 2017.

As part of the new deal TSN retains exclusive early round coverage of the RBC Canadian Open along with broadcast rights to other popular PGA TOUR events including the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-AM and the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship. Continue reading »

The broadcaster has secured 26 weekends of PGA Tour broadcasts through to 2018 as well as coverage of the Presidents Cup in 2015 and 2017.

Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods headline a world-class field of golfers at the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois for the 2012 Ryder Cup live on TSN and TSN Mobile TV from September 28 to 30.

Canada’s Sports Leader has complete coverage of the prestigious biennial tournament, which pits the best golfers in the USA against the top golfers from Europe across three days of competition (see complete broadcast schedule below).

The action begins with foursome (two-man teams in alternate shot play) and fourball (two-man teams in better ball competition) matches on Friday, Sept. 28 at 8 a.m. ET and Saturday, Sept. 29 at 9 a.m. ET on TSN. The RBC Canadian Open has played host to the world’s best golfers and produced countless memorable moments. Held at Vancouver’s Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club, 17 Canadians will be on the greens for the 2011 RBC Canadian Open Championship.

Global announced today that it will again provide Canadian golf fans with comprehensive tee-to-tee coverage during the final two rounds of the 2011 Masters Tournament.  

Global’s Masters broadcast will take place Saturday, April 9th from 2:30pm until 7:00pm ET and Sunday, April 10 from 1:00pm until 7:00pm ET).  

Plus this year Global will add to its already extensive coverage with its first-ever live, pre-game special from the grounds of this storied golf course. 

Dubbed Live From Augusta, the hour-long show will take place immediately prior to Global’s broadcast of the final two rounds of The Masters.  Drawing upon their combined sports experience and their own love of the game, Global Calgary’s Kevin Smith and Global Toronto’s Rob Leth will provide viewers with an in-depth perspective on The Masters including exclusive content, up to the minute details and expert analysis. 

The Masters is one of only four major annual tournaments in professional golf. First played in 1934, it has a long-running history as one of the most prestigious competitions in the sport.  Among the prizes awarded, the winner is presented with a green jacket, which signifies the golfer’s entry into the exclusive group of Masters champions.
