FuturamaFuturama has been given the axe for the second time.

The animate comedy will not be returning after its seventh season following word from Comedy Central of its cancellation.

The series, which originally ran between 1999 and 2003, was axed by Fox before Comedy Central picked it up and ran new episodes from 2007.

“I felt like we were already in the bonus round on these last couple of seasons, so I can’t say I was devastated by the news,” executive producer David X. Cohen tells EW. “It was what I had expected two years earlier. At this point I keep a suitcase by my office door so I can be cancelled at a moment’s notice.” Continue reading »

Futurama has been renewed for another season

Voice actor Maurice LaMarche confirmed the news that the animated series will return for a seventh season.

“13 new episodes have been ordered, with an additional 13 optional. This is apart from the 13 episodes that will air beginning in June 2011 on Comedy Central,: LaMarche said.

“They will air in 13 episode blocks… so that means there will be new Futurama in summer of 2012, and most probably in summer of 2013 as well.”
