Focus Manitoba

Global Winnipeg is pleased to announce the return of former Global National Correspondent Lauren McNabb to her home province in a new dual role as Senior Reporter and host of Focus Manitoba, the station’s new weekly public affairs program.

McNabb will be leading the debate on all the hot-button topics affecting Manitobans and covering the stories that get people talking.

Focus Manitoba premiers this Saturday, October 15 at 6:30pm, covering politics, business, innovation, the arts community and other topics that best reflect Manitoba to Manitobans.

“Focus Manitoba offers Manitobans the opportunity to witness timely discussions about what matters most to them”, says Troy Reeb, Vice-President, Global News. “Lauren is an extremely savvy reporter with years of experience that will enable her to present each issue in a fair and balanced manner.  With her guidance and the backing of Global News, Focus Manitoba will resonate with all viewers every week.”

This week’s Focus Manitoba builds on the excitement of the inaugural home game of the newly reborn Winnipeg Jets, exploring with a variety of guests what the provinces needs to do to capitalize on the excitement to keep Winnipeg and Manitoba on the map in the decades to come

Born and raised in Minnedosa, Manitoba, McNabb has spent her career covering some of the decade’s biggest news stories, including the war in Afghanistan, Hurricane Katrina and the deadly 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. McNabb won the RTNDA’s Charlie Edwards Spot News Award in 2008 as the only North American journalist to cover Cyclone Nargis from inside the heavily restricted Myanmar/Burma region. McNabb joined Global Winnipeg in 2000 before becoming Global National’s Manitoba Correspondent in 2003. McNabb has also reported from Global National’s Toronto bureau, and Jerusalem Bureau as its Middle-East correspondent. The launch of Focus Manitoba marks McNabb’s return to air from a maternity leave.

McNabb will also be contributing to the Evening News at 6pm, Prime News 10pm and News Final at 11pm as Global Winnipeg’s Senior Reporter.
