NBC has announced plans to revive reality series Fear Factor after a five year hiatus.

The reality series has been off the screen since 2006 but reports are suggesting that NBC want to bring it back for another run.

NBC’s head of alternative programming Pail Telegdy told Entertainment Weekly that the idea of a revival came to him while watching repeats of the show.

“No-one has come close to doing what they’ve done on that show,” Telegdy said. “You go back and they’ve stood the test of time. It always had this incredible spectacle to it.”

“The stunt and camera technologies have evolved since then; we’re going to be able to make it even bigger. We’re going to make it more visually arresting.”

Word is former host Joe Rogan is “very high on the list” to host the series again according to Endemol North America chairman David Goldberg.

“Joe was a great host,” Goldberg told EW. “I think his brand and his personality is associated with this show. This has all happened fairly fast. We’ll sit down with Joe and see if something he even wants to do. He’ll certainly be very high on the list.”
