Fact Or Faked: Paranormal Witness

9 p.m. ET/PT – Tuesday, February 1 on Space

Two creatures caught on a homeowner’s CCTV and a purported UFO encounter over Lake Havasu are scrutinized.

This month, SPACE administers a double dose of delicious truth serum with two tasty new sci-fi reality series.

First up, FACT OR FAKED: PARANORMAL FILES uncovers the truth behind some of the most compelling, mystifying and unexplainable images caught on camera.

The investigative series takes off on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Then, competition series FACE OFF explores the world of special-effects make-up artists culminating in one winner and one grand prize that will launch a career, beginning Thursday, Jan. 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Following the television broadcast, episodes are available on demand at SPACECAST.com.

Heading up the FACT OR FAKED team is Ben Hansen, a former FBI agent with a life-long fascination with the paranormal. The series also features lead scientist Bill Murphy, effects specialist Larry Caughlin, journalist Jael De Pardo, photography expert Chi-Lan Lieu, and stunt expert Austin Porter. The young team of intrepid investigators dissects the latest unusual images and decides whether they merit further investigation. Grainy videos are brought to life as the team conducts thorough and elaborate experiments in an attempt to recreate the phenomena and explain the alleged sighting.

Lead by Hansen, the FACT OR FAKED team talks to witnesses, carries out experiments using the latest in high tech detection devices, collects physical samples and determines whether a case should be debunked, or whether it’s a baffling paranormal mystery that might even put the team in danger.

Competition/elimination series FACE OFF incorporates effects make-up and a wide range of skill sets including prosthetics, 3-D design, sculpting, eye enhancers, casting and molding. Contestants are tasked with challenges including executing full body paint make up on models and creating their own horror villain. Each episode involves incredible reveals of the competitors’ finished work, and the drama of one contestant being sent home by the panel of expert and celebrity judges. The twelve FACE OFF artists are whittled down week-by-week as they compete for a $100,000 prize and a year’s supply of make-up courtesy of Alcone.

Hosted by actress McKenzie Westmore (ALL MY CHILDREN, PASSIONS) the competitors are judged by some of the most renowned names in the SFX world including three-time Academy Award® winner Ve Neill (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Ed Wood), famed special make-up effects artist Glenn Hetrick (HEROES, CSI:NY) and creature designer/film director Patrick Tatopoulos (Outlander, I Am Legend). Throughout the series, some of the industry’s most experienced artists will guest judge including Sean Cunningham (Friday the 13th), revolutionary body painter Filippo Ioco, Greg Nicotero (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) and Michael Westmore (STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION).
