Disney Junior is kicking off the holiday season from December 3 as the channel becomes home to festive specials and seasonal programming.

Throughout the month, Disney Junior gifts viewers with Snow Day Saturdays, featuring new holiday-themed episodes of their favourite family series.

The December 25 schedule is filled with back-to-back festive episodes with Happy Holiday Marathons beginning on December 26. The seasonal jubilee continues online at DisneyJunior.ca where youngsters and their families can send out their own holiday greetings.

Special Snow Day Saturdays debut each Saturday morning leading up to Christmas from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m, ET. A new holiday-themed episode will premiere each weekend, along with the special movie premiere of Snow Buddies on December 3. Descriptions of the new episodes and film are as follows:

· Jake and the Never Land Pirates – Dec. 3 at 9:00 a.m. ET 

“It’s a Winter Never Land/Hook on Ice”: Jake, Izzy and Cubby awake to find that Peter Pan has left the crew presents and a tree to celebrate Winter Treasure Day.

 

· Snow Buddies – Dec. 3 at 9:30 a.m. ET 

In this feature film, a group of talking puppies venture to the Arctic and team up with new friends in a thrilling dogsled race across Alaska.

 

· Stella and Sam – Dec. 10 at 9:00 a.m. ET 

“Sam’s Fort”: Sam builds a snow fort and it becomes a shelter for wild animals.

 

· Handy Manny – Dec. 17 at 9:00 a.m. ET 

“Snow Problem”: In a new half-hour special, Manny and the tools get separated from each other on the way to fix a broken ski lift. Manny must set out to rescue the tools and save their winter ski vacation.

 

· Imagination Movers – Dec. 24 at 9:00 a.m. ET 

“A Little Elf Esteem”: The Movers help Carol, a young elf-in-training, learn everything she needs to know to earn her elf bells in time to help Santa deliver presents on Christmas Eve.

 

These festive episodes, along with a dozen more, will be available all month long via the Holiday Playlist on Disney Junior OnDemand. 

Disney Junior sees a flurry of seasonal programming after Christmas as well when Happy Holiday Marathons drift onto the network. From December 26 through January 6, weekday afternoons will feature marathons of Disney Junior favourites from 1:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. ET. Included in the lineup is Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Special Agent Oso, Stella and Sam and Strawberry Shortcake. As part of the Strawberry Shortcake marathon, viewers will see the season two premiere on Friday, December 30 at 4:00 p.m. ET, immediately followed by the movie Strawberry Shortcake: Sky’s The Limit.

DisneyJunior.ca is also making spirits bright this winter offering seasonal online games and activities for viewers. Beginning November 28 until January 8, families can create e-cards for their friends and loved ones to help spread the holiday cheer. E-cards designed prior to December 12 will be entered in a contest for the chance to be shown on air from December 19 – 25.

Two new shows from Disney premiere on Family along with new episodes from hit Disney and Canadian series.

On Disney Junior, younger viewers will delight in the fall premiere of a new season of the award-winning Canadian animated series Stella and Sam, as well as the debut of new short-form programming starring Minnie Mouse.

On the newly launched Disney XD, fans of action will be enthralled with new episodes of Disney XD’s adrenaline-fuelled Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil as well as a new season of Connor Undercover.

Family Channel

On Family, the big city awaits a small-town girl in the new live-action comedy from Disney Channel, Jessie, airing a sneak peek episode on September 30 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Starring Debby Ryan (The Suite Life on Deck), Jessie follows a starry-eyed teen from rural Texas who moves to New York City to explore what exists outside her familiar life. She soon finds herself living in a multi-million dollar penthouse as nanny to a high-profile couple’s four children, one of their imaginary friends and a seven foot Asian Water Monitor lizard named Mr. Kippling. New episodes of Jessie will continue to air Fridays at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT from October 14.

Also from Disney Channel, PrankStars makes its debut on Family at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT on September 30. The reality series is hosted by Mitchel Musso (Pair of Kings) as he directs pranks live from a covert mobile command centre. Stars including Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place) and China Anne McClain (A.N.T. Farm) surprise their fans when unsuspecting tweens and teens are set up by family members and come face to face with their favourite celebrities. The series will air throughout the fall.

The second season of Disney’s buddy comedy series Shake It Up shimmies onto Family this fall beginning October 10. CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue, two high-spirited best friends, have mastered the latest dance styles and navigated the backstage antics of their frenemies, but balancing responsibilities at home and school all while appearing as background dancers in “Shake It Up, Chicago!” is keeping the girls on their toes. Viewers can catch new episodes of Shake It Up on Fridays at 6:00 p.m. ET/PT from October 14.

New episodes of the hit Canadian comedy Wingin’ It air on Family on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. ET/PT from September 24. The series follows angel-in-training Porter Jackson (Demetrius Joyette, The Latest Buzz, Roxy Hunter) as he helps Carl Montclaire (Dylan Everett) become the most popular student at Bennett High.

 

Disney Junior

Premiering this fall on Disney Junior, the multi-award winning Canadian series Stella and Sam returns for a second season beginning in October. As they explore the world in all its seasons, siblings Stella and Sam encounter backyard quests and imaginative adventures. This animated series is based on the popular books by Canadian author and illustrator Marie-Louise Gay.

Younger viewers can follow the comings and goings in the new animated short-form series Minnie’s Bow-Toons when it joins the Disney Junior schedule in November. Starring Minnie Mouse, the series is based on the comedic happenings at Minnie’s Bow-Tique Hotel. On any given day, Minnie acts as hostess, party planner, chef, fashion consultant, riding instructor or tour guide, with Daisy Duck taking on the role of a very chatty front desk clerk.

 

Disney XD

Launched on June 1, Disney XD delivers the best in comedy and action series with programming that focuses on adventure, discovery, sports and achievement. Fall brings a new season of the high-octane animated series, Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil. The Disney XD series follows an extraordinary kid determined to become the world’s greatest daredevil. Small in stature but big in heart, Kick makes the most out of his suburban surroundings and takes on every stunt with unwavering enthusiasm. Season two of the show premieres on September 5 at 5:30 p.m. ET during a full-day marathon on Disney XD beginning at 11:00 a.m. ET. New episodes of Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil will air on Sundays at 8:30 p.m. ET from September 11.

The second season of the Canadian original production Connor Undercover premieres on Disney XD on September 25 at 3:30 p.m. ET. Fifteen-year-old Connor Heath’s world is rocked when a beautiful president’s daughter is sent to live with his family. The two teens must scheme to figure out the mystery that’s taken over their lives – if they can only figure out how to get along first! New episodes air Sundays at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Families can welcome Disney Junior into their homes today as the newly branded channel launches across Canada.

As of 6:00 a.m. ET subscribers of Playhouse Disney, both English and French, will see the channels transform into Disney Junior. Featuring entertaining and learning-focused programs for young viewers and their families, Disney Junior celebrates magical, musical and heartfelt stories with shows that feature beloved classic and contemporary characters.
