DeviousMaidsEva Longoria has defended her new series Devious Maids against criticism that hit stereotypes Latino women.

The Lifetime series is yet to hit the air but already multiple sources have begun criticising it for stereotyping Latino women as housekeepers in the US.

“[These maids are] the moral compass of the show,” executive producer Longoria said. “For our show to even have five Latino women … The fact is that we do make up a large part of the domestic workers. When someone criticizes that, it’s saying why are you showing your story? That’s so stereotypical, I always think. You’re telling me their story’s not worth telling. That means they’re not complex. That they don’t have a life, that they don’t have a story to tell. They do.” Continue reading »

DeviousMaidsBeginning today, Lifetime is offering a sneak peek at the new Eva Longoria-produced drama Devious Maids.

From June 9 through until June 22, the first episode of the new drama is available for viewing on mylifetimetv.ca ahead of its premiere on June 23 at 10pm ET/7pm PT.

In Devious Maids, class warfare has never been as amusing and as scandalous as it is in the tiny enclave of Beverly Hills where the staff is as clever, outrageous and downright devilish as their employers. DeviousMaidsThe new Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives) and Eva Longoria-produced series Devious Maids arrives on Canadian screens Sunday, June 23.

Lifetime will air the new drama, which centres on the lives of five maids played by Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty), Dania Ramirez (Entourage), Roselyn Sanchez (Without a Trace), Edy Ganem (Livin’ Loud) and Judy Reyes (Scrubs).
