Despite the fact that she has too little time to collect the Gamma object and return to the Crossbow in the allotted time, Zoe (Laura Harris), driven by her hallucination of the crying baby, decides to collect the object regardless. For Donner (Ron Livingston), it all proves to be eerily reminiscent of the Mars expedition 10 years before, but it also provides a major revelation for Donner when he finally learns about Zoe’s pregnancy.

Entranced by a haunting song, the Antares crew is inexorably drawn to storage Pod 4 where the otherworldly Beta object revolves in an astonishing fractal dance. In Mission Control, Ajay (Zahf Paroo) and Arnel (William Vaughan) also see the strange object for the first time as Goss (Andrew Airlie) announces that they are now all sworn to secrecy about the real nature of the space mission.

Although it is supposedly only a storage facility, Donner (Ron Livingston) Zoe (Laura Harris) and Paula (Paula Garces) are unable to enter the mysterious Pod 4. Donner enlists Ajay’s (Zahf Paroo) help in trying to find a way in, while Goss (Andrew Airlie) orders Ted (Malik Yoba) to distract his crew from the off-limits area.

There’s something very strange on board the Antares as nearly all the astronauts have racing heartbeats and elevated temperatures. Back at Mission Control, Goss (Andrew Airlie) is ramping up for an outer space Halloween promotional stunt that will result in billions of dollars worth of scientific funding. Desperate to keep the project on track, Goss orders Claire (Maxim Roy) to attribute the symptoms to contaminated Halos, the crew’s removable libido inhibitors.

Working in one of the storage pods with Wassenfelder (Dylan Taylor), Paula (Paula Garces) has a serious accident that severs her thumb and causes a severe abdominal injury.
