Viewers were introduced to Forest Whitaker’s character in an episode of CRIMINAL MINDS last season entitled “The Fight,” which served as a pilot for the new series. In the episode, which aired April 7, 2010 on CTV, the BAU team travelled to San Francisco to investigate the murders of several homeless men and teamed up with a separate group of BAU operatives who were working on another case they believe was connected. The backdoor pilot won its 8 p.m. ET timeslot, garnering 2.1 million viewers out of simulcast, while CRIMINAL MINDS averages 2.6 million viewers* and is one of the Top 5 most-watched programs in Canada.

Based on a team of agents within the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) who use unconventional methods of investigation to capture some of the most despicable criminals, CRIMINAL MINDS: SUSPECT BEHAVIOR is lead by unit chief Special Agent Sam Cooper (Forest Whitaker, The Last King of Scotland). A natural leader, Cooper isn’t afraid to put his career on the line to stand by his convictions. “Our group, we are behavioral analysts, but I don’t follow rules. My character, Sam Cooper, came back to this unit only if he could operate without rules,” said Whitaker prior to his appearance on CRIMINAL MINDS.

Striving to avoid political bureaucracy, Cooper handpicked an eclectic group of profilers to work alongside him. They include strong-willed and outspoken Beth Griffith (Janeane Garofalo, 24) the newest member of the team who joins them from the FBI Threat Assessment Task Force; former British Special Forces soldier Mick Rawson (Matt Ryan, THE TUDORS), who works as a highly skilled marksman; John “Prophet” Sims (Michael Kelly, Did You Hear About the Morgans?), a former convict with a street-smart edge and calm, who is determined to make amends for past sins; Gina LaSalle (Beau Garrett, TRON: Legacy), an attractive, tough agent armed with a cunning sense of perception; and computer wizard Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness, CRIMINAL MINDS).

In the premiere episode “Two of a Kind” (Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 10 p.m. ET on CTV), Cooper (Whitaker) and his team are called to Cleveland to investigate a series of child abductions. Emmy® Award-Winner Richard Schiff (THE WEST WING) guest stars as FBI Director Jack Fickler.

An encore of “The Fight” will air on Sunday, February 13 at 10 p.m. ET in most markets, prior to the series premiere of CRIMINAL MINDS: SUSPECT BEHAVIOR (visit CTV.ca to confirm local listings).
