Cops

One of the longest-running series on television has been renewed for its 23rd season.

Fox has granted the hit reality show Cops another season to add to its already impressive haul following 21 years on TV.

“We’re doing gangbusters,” creator John Langley said. “It’s an existential variety show — dramatic, life-threatening, philosophical and legal. We’re still the only show on television with no script, no actors, no host and no re-enactments.”

The show will soon air its 800th episode in the US and the tally to date is 2,044 arrests across 140 U.S. cities.

The show is holding steady in the ratings department, keeping its audience around the 5 million per week level.

60 Minutes is still the longest running primetime show with this year being its 42nd on air.
