Comanche Moon

Welcome to the Wild West: Six-Hour Mini-Series Comanche Moon Hits the Trail Sunday, Jan. 13 on A-Channel

Saddle up! A-Channel announced today it will broadcast Comanche Moon, a new six-hour mini-series based on the bestselling and Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Larry McMurtry. Starring Val Kilmer (Déjà vu, Alexander) and Steve Zahn (Rescue Dawn) – with a guest appearance by Canadian Adam Beach (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) – Comanche Moon kicks off Sunday, Jan. 13, continues Tuesday, Jan. 15 and concludes Wednesday, Jan. 16, airing 9-11 p.m. ET each night (visit to confirm local broadcast times).

The final chapter in McMurtry’s Lonesome Dove saga, Comanche Moon serves as the prequel to the 1989 Emmy Award-winning mini-series. Comanche Moon follows Texas Rangers Augustus “Gus” McCrae (Zahn) and Woodrow F. Call (Karl Urban, Lord of the Rings) in their middle years as they continue to deal with the ever-increasing tensions of adult life while patrolling the Western frontier alongside Captain Inish Scull (Kilmer).

Comanche Moon explores the balance of life and love as Gus manages his beloved, Clara Forsythe (Linda Cardellini, ER), while Call tries to handle Maggie Tilton (Elizabeth Banks, The 40 Year Old Virgin), a young prostitute and the mother of his son. Captain Scull (Kilmer), a Yankee aristocrat and hero of the recently concluded Mexican War, has his own relationship troubles to deal with, as wife Inez Scull (Rachel Griffiths, Six Feet Under), has been filling her bed with other men while he’s away from home.

Two proud but very different men, McCrae and Call enlist with a Texas Ranger troop who are in pursuit of three outlaws: Buffalo Hump (Wes Studi, IntoThe West), the great Comanche war chief; celebrated Comanche horse thief Kicking Wolf (Jonathon Joss, Into the West); and deadly Mexican bandit Ahumado (Sal Lopez, The Astronaut Farmer). The Rangers engage in the bitter struggle to protect an advancing western frontier against the defiant Comanches who are determined to defend their territory and their way of life.

Comanche Moon also stars David Midthunder (Into The West) as renowned Kickapoo tracker Famous Shoes, Keith Robinson (Dreamgirls) as Deets, Ryan Merriman (The Ring Two) as Jake Spoon and Troy Baker (Striking Range) as Pea Eye Parker. Canada’s Adam Beach (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) makes an appearance as Buffalo Humps’ violent outcast son, Blue Duck.
