Shain_buckwildMTV has cancelled Buckwild following the death of one of the cast members.

The reality series will not return for another season after Shain Gandee was killed while off-roading this month.

Production on the second season was halted when news broke of Gandee’s death.

The MTV reality star has died in what appears to be a vehicle accident with two other in West Virginia on Monday.

Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper said: “It’s a very sad day for this county. This is a small place and just about everyone in this community knows everybody.”

MTV has said in a statement: “We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic incident.

“We are waiting for more information but at this time, our main concern is for the Gandee family and their friends. Continue reading »

Buckwild2The controversial MTV reality series Buckwild has been given a second season, presumably to the chagrin of a certain US Senator.

“Shameful behaviour” is how West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin described the antics of the series, which basically follows a group of young people getting up to no good in a small town.

Viewers seemed to love it though and MTV have ordered more episodes as the first season drew to a close this week in the US.

“I cannot imagine that anyone who loves this country would feel proud profiting off of Buckwild,” Senator Manchin wrote to MTV. Continue reading »

Much to West Virginia’s Sen. Joe Manchin’s chagrin, taking over Jersey Shore’s Thursday night slot is the much-talked about and controversial series, Buckwild (Jan. 3), which follows nine, wild youths through the hills of West Virginia.
