Twitter is playing a major part in one of the newest sitcoms lined up for American network CBS with the entire premise based around a page on the popular website.
“Bleep My Dad Says” is the latest comedy project from the network which will centre on the utterances of a 74-year-old retired doctor whose lines were posted on Twitter by his son, Justin Halpern under the title “S**t Mt Dad Says”.
Stranger still is the involvement of William Shatner, who is set to play the father character.
With more than 1.3 million followers on Twitter, the page boasts a strong fan base and Halpern Junior has cashed in by releasing a novel based on his father’s sayings.
Examples of the popular quotes are:
“I didn’t say you were ugly. I said your girlfriend is better looking than you, and standing next to her, you look ugly.”
“A parent’s only as good as their dumbest kid. If one wins a Nobel Prize but the other gets robbed by a hooker, you failed.”
The show is scheduled to hit screens around September.
