Hot on the heels of the epic first season of Big Brother Canada, the country’s biggest specialty reality series of the year, Shaw Media and Insight Productions announced today that the national casting call for season two is now open. Canadians 19 years and older are invited to apply online at www.bigbrothercanada.ca and this fall in person at open casting calls in select cities across Canada. The Shaw Media reality series has been nominated in the ‘Best TV Show Specific Social TV Award’ and ‘Best TV Everywhere’ categories.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, July 16th, at a ceremony at the Bel-Air Country Club, located in Los Angeles, CA.

BigBrother_Canada640The inaugural season of Big Brother Canada has proven to be a hit on social media.

A quarterly report on Canadian social TV trends by the Montreal-based social media analytics firm Seevibes and Evolumedia Group shows the Global and Slice series had a massive impact when it came to interaction on social media.

The series notched up a total of 116 million impressions and 120,000 interactions during its January-April run this year.

71% of the chatter played out on Twitter, with 74% of that coming from female fans. Continue reading »

Cox has joined the Rogers Radio station 91.7 The Bounce as its new morning show host alongside Ara Andonian, who currently works on the afternoon drive show.

Jillian MacLaughlin’s shock win in the finale helped the series become the most-watched specialty series of the night.

JillianMcThe winner of Big Brother Canada has been revealed in controversial circumstances.

Jillian MacLaughlin from New Glasgow, N.S., has taken out the $100,000 grand prize, beating fellow housemate Gary Levy following a voting mishap from jury member Topaz.

Believing she was voting for Gary to win, Topaz accidentally cast her vote for Jillian.

When host Arisa Cox announced her vote for Jillian, Topaz got up on stage to protest, claiming someone had switched her vote. Continue reading »
