ArrestedDevelopmentIt really isn’t all that surprising that that the new season of Arrested Development was pirated over 100,000 times in its first 24 hours.

The new 15-episode season was released exclusively on Netflix in very few global markets and for viewers with no access to Netflix, torrent websites provided the solution to this dilemma.

Ernesto Van Der Sar, the editor of TorrentFreak, confirmed that over 100,000 downloads had been made in the first 24 hours since the season was released in one bulk lot on Netflix.

ArrestedDevelopmentCritics have had a mainly positive reaction to the brand new Arrested Development episodes released this week on Netflix.

The 15 new instalments come six years after the series last graced the screen and while most are impressed with what they saw, a few believe you can have too much of a good thing.

All 15 of the episodes were released in one go, with the choice up to the viewer as to which order they watch them in.

Chief Hollywood Reporter TV critic Tim Goodman says that after a slow start, the series “snowballs into seven-and-a-half hours of hilarity just waiting for a movie to follow it up”. Continue reading »

ArresteddevelopmentposterNetflix CEO Reed Hastings believes the biggest challenge for the streaming service in Canada is the amount of new competition.

Hasting cites the launch of Videotron and the potential new services from Rogers and Bell-Astral (pending a merger) as proving challenging for Netflix in the country.

“In each nation people are adopting internet television, we’ll win part of the viewing and part of the affection, not the whole thing,” Hastings said. “The only thing we can really control is what we do, so we’re focused on how do we make the service a little bit better, how do we get the content a little bit better, how do we get the marketing a little bit better? We’ve been in this unusual phase where we’re the new kid on the block and the only one of our type and of course that’s going to change now.” Continue reading »

The first trailer for the new Arrested Development season has been released.

The new episodes will debut on Netflix at the same time on May 26.

New Democratic Party leader Thomas Mulcair has channelled Arrested Development to burn the PM on the subject of $3.1 billion in unaccounted anti-terrorism spending.

“Is the money just in the wrong filing cabinet, is it hidden in the minister’s gazebo, is the money in the banana stand?” Mulcair asked in the House of Commons.

Apparently only $250,000 was stashed in the Bluth’s banana stand so if this is the case then there’s plenty of searching to come.

ArresteddevelopmentposterMore guest stars have been added to the fourth season of Arrested Development.

Cougar Town’s Busy Philipps and comedienne Natasha Leggero have joined the long list of people making guest appearance sin the Netflix season.

Philipps and Leggero join John Krasinski, Kristen Wiig, Seth Rogen, Conan O’Brien, Andy Richter, Ben Schwartz, Chris Diamantopoulos, John Slattery, Isla Fisher, Terry Crews, Ben Stiller, James Lipton, Carl Weathers, Jeff Garlin, Liza Minnelli, Judy Greer, Henry Winkler and Scott Baio.
