BNN – The Business News Network announced today that production has begun on Season 3 of APP CENTRAL and it’s going worldwide!

Production has begun on 40 all-new half-hour episodes, airing Wednesdays and Thursdays on BNN beginning Wednesday, May 16 at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Also announced today, APP CENTRAL has inked international distribution deals with Australia’s Network Seven and Korea HD Broadcasting Corporation to broadcast Season 3 of APP CENTRAL.

The program continues to air domestically on five Bell Media platforms. In addition to premiering Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET and Thursdays 9 p.m. ET on BNN, APP CENTRAL also airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on CTV NEWS CHANNEL,  Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. ET on CTV, Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. ET on CTV TWO and Sundays at 10:30 a.m. ET on CP24.

In Season 3 of APP CENTRAL, co-hosts Amber MacArthur and Michael Hainsworth continue their exploration of the ever-expanding business of Apps. In each episode, the team presents the best Apps for Smartphone and tablet users in fresh and fun ways. New for Season 3, MacArthur hosts Apps of the World, a look at the hot apps from countries around the world.

MacArthur continues to deliver star power with Celeb e-Watch, where stars offer up their social media, technology, and Smartphone habits. Past stars include: Suzanne Somers, Lisa LaFlamme, Robert Englund a.k.a. “Freddy Krueger” and others. Hainsworth tackles viewer questions with The Help Desk using real world examples and demonstrations. Also returning this season, Old vs. New, a face-off segment between producer Michael Bancroft and the hosts, comparing the pros and cons of doing something the old fashioned way vs. using an app to do the same task.

In this special episode, APP CENTRAL co-host Michael Hainsworth travels to the California headquarters of Google to catch the creative wave of this innovative team. Hainsworth talks tech with John Langerling, the Director of Android Global Partnerships. Then he talks TV with YouTube’s Shivia Rajaraman and finds out why people have become their own video curators, before getting the insider scoop on ways the YouTube team is working to make the user experience more slick everyday.

Ever been told to “Just Google It?” Hainsworth knows just the guy! Yury Pinksy, Product Manager for Google’s Mobile Search division, is paying close attention to users search patterns and explains how Google is made a little bit smarter with every search. To conclude his insider trip, Hainsworth makes a Canadian connection with Chris Elliott, a graduate of the University of Waterloo and credited with making the Android Robot Disco Dance, who gives APP CENTRAL a private dance demo.

Meanwhile, north of the boarder, Amber MacArthur tours Google’s Canadian head office with Stergios Anastasiadis and gets the latest scoop on Google+ the fast growing social networking offering from Google. Moving right along, Rick Byers, Software Engineer for Chrome, explains the Chrome web store and why their apps have a vivid look and feel. Finally, MacArthur talks with Matthew Izatt, Product Manager for Gmail, who explains how Gmail is all grown-up and is now on any mobile device.

In the premiere episode, DEGRASSI goes digital, as cast member Melinda Shankar tells APP CENTRAL how to create a DEGRASSI character that can walk the school’s hallways using the DEGRASSI app, in the first installment of the new Celeb e-Watch segment. The first of seven new APP CENTRAL contributors, Doug Stephens, showcases the latest in retail apps. Music historian Allan Cross shows viewers how to become their own personal DJ with up-to-the-minute music apps that turns users into rock stars. And the season’s first gadget review takes flight with the latest in flying gadgetry.

New for Season Two of APP CENTRAL, Co-Hosts, Amber MacArthur and Michael Hainsworth deliver more Smartphone and tablet knowhow with an interactive segment called The Help Desk, tackling viewer questions using real world examples and demonstrations. In Celeb e-Watch, stars like Susanne Somers, Mary Murphy, Nelly Furtado, and Robert Englund offer up their social media, technology, and Smartphone/tablet habits to resident power-friender Amber MacArthur. Finally, APP CENTRAL has recruited seven new regular contributors who will also blog for on the topics they appear on the program for. APP CENTRAL is an original 30-minute co-production that is commissioned by BNN and CP24.  The program originally launched as the first show dedicated to apps in Canada on April 3, 2011. The first season of APP CENTRAL explored the growing culture and business of apps for Smartphones and tablets.

Highlights from Season 1 range from Amber MacArthur playing Angry Birds with author Margret Atwood to Michael Hainsworth turning a robot alarm clock against intrepid reporter Kris Abel.
