Astral’s Family Channel enters the world of musical prodigies and high school politics in the new live-action comedy series A.N.T. Farm.
Family welcomes the Disney Channel Original Series to the summer schedule as it premieres Friday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT in its regular timeslot, followed by its debut on Family OnDemand.
A.N.T. Farm follows Chyna Parks, an 11-year-old musical prodigy who attends high school as part of the prestigious A.N.T. (Advanced Natural Talents) program. Chyna along with her fellow A.N.T.s – Olive Doyle, with a photographic memory and Fletcher Quimby, an artistic genius – must navigate through the complexities of high school life and endure the lukewarm welcome from other students including Chyna’s older brother, Cameron and overachieving Lexi Reed.
In the premiere episode, on Friday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, Chyna makes an effort to be more involved with her school’s extracurricular activities and joins the cheerleading squad, but she gets more than she bargained for when Lexi puts her cheerleading skills to the test. Meanwhile, Cameron and Fletcher create their own unique lunchtime club.
A.N.T. Farm stars China Anne McClain (House of Payne) as Chyna Parks, Sierra McCormick (Ramona and Beezus) as Olive Doyle, Jake Short (Shorts) as Fletcher Quimby, Stefanie Scott (Flipped) as Lexi Reed and Carlon Jeffery (Heroes) as Cameron Parks. The series was created by Dan Signer (The Suite Life on Deck) and executive produced by Signer and Stephen Engel (The Big Bang Theory).
Bookending the A.N.T. Farm premiere are two more premieres on Family, adding to the night’s musical theme. In a new episode of Shake It Up titled “Vatalihootsit It Up” airing at 7 p.m. ET/PT, Gunther and Tinka invite CeCe and Rocky over to celebrate Vatalihootsit, a holiday from their home country. At 8 p.m. ET/PT, Family premieres the What’s What version of Lemonade Mouth, starring Bridgit Mendler and Adam Hicks. Five students (Olivia, Wen, Stella, Mohini and Charlie) meet in detention and realize they share a musical connection. As the group become friends they start a band, Lemonade Mouth and find that their music resonates with those students that feel sidelined by the high school elite.
