24-logoThe new run of 24 episodes has locked down another familiar face in Jon Cassar who will return as director and executive producer.

The filmmaker is a key member of the 24 family, having directed 59 episodes between season two to seven.

“I’m very happy to be renewing my relationship with the 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine family and am excited to call ‘action!’ again on the set of the resurrected 24,” Cassar said.

The Canadian actor has seen his new drama series Touch cancelled by its American network and at the same time news has spread of a potential return of 24.

The Fox network is looking at the bringing 24 back as a limited series with Sutherland returning as the bad-ass Jack Bauer.

The Canadian actor has confirmed his interest in appearing in a movie version of the series, if it ever gets made.

“I want to make the 24 movie as long as I can run – and last week I figured out I still could.”

Sutherland said: “For the first five years of my career I was working back and forth between the United States and Canada. The Bay Boy was the first film I got to do, I would come back and do plays, do theatre here.

Kiefer Sutherland today told the hosts of The View that the much-anticipated 24 movie will be released in 2012.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Sutherland announced the news despite the fact the movie is yet to find a director and has no start date confirmed.

Sutherland, who plays Jack Bauer on the series, says he is committed to the big screen adaptation despite its troubled start.
