Season 3 Top 22 performance show

August 28th, 2010

Isn't it so good to have a Canadian reality TV show on the air?  Thanks CTV!

Bad news for Shelaina Anderson.  Before we even get to a performance show and Shelaina has injured herself in rehearsals and cracked one of the bones in her foot.  The injury doesn't just affect Shelaina though.  Her partner for tonight is going to be getting a stand in and according to Jean Marc, it's a big surprise. Who is it? Season two winner Tara-Jean Popowich of course!

So here is the run down of what happened!

SYTYCDC Season 3 Auditions - Toronto

August 21st, 2010

I'd forgotten just how much fun So You Think You Can Dance Canada is.  Dancing is intense. People pushing their bodies to the limit in the auditions just to get themselves a boarding pass to the finals. It's amazing that we don't see more broken bones and torn ligaments!

Amanda Cleghorn - 18, Mississauga, ON Imogen Heap, between sheets.  Amanda doesn't want to be in the shadow of her older sister any longer.  The first audition of the day and the first ticket to the finals.

Aneal Ramkissoon, 18, Woodbridge, ON It's all about Bollywood for Aneal.  If you want diversification then this is it.  If you want a ticket though, try harder next year.

Shonda Rhimes Blogs About Grey's Season Finale

May 22nd, 2010

Every week, the lead writer of each Grey's episode blogs about the inspiration and the backstory that went into penning the episode. This week's episode was written by the series creator herself and she writers about it!

When I was a kid and I did something crazy, like climb on the roof or eat detergent to see how it tasted, my mom would say -- in that weary, exasperated, “I’d rather be on the beach” tone that all moms have – she would say, “Shonda, what do you have to say for yourself? WHAT?”

I tell you this because I am quite sure that if you saw the finale and you are reading this blog and you…I don’t know, like babies or Mer/Der or happiness or dancing it out…if you like those things, you are shouting, “Shonda, what do you have to say for yourself? WHAT?”

(I’d like to point out that the dark and twisty among you might not be shouting at all. You might be saying, “I get you, Sister! Solidarity!” Or maybe I’m just desperately hoping that is true.)

Grey's Recap: Writers Grouped to Pen Last Week's!

May 17th, 2010

We thought we’d start by seeing our characters have some fun.  Or at least feign having some fun.  I mean, technically it’s a party, right?  Fun!  Okay, it’s a lame “meet and greet the Chief” party.  It probably shouldn’t even be called a party… more like a work function.  But there’s much juicy info to be gleaned from the party.  For instance, Alex and Lexie are a couple.  A couple couple.

Also?  Cristina agrees to move in with Owen.  Through all the angst, all the PTSD, all the choking – Cristina wants to make this work.  She’s all in.  Until life happens and kills her bliss (more on that later).  What else… Reed wants to play in the big leagues by hitting on Mark.  Who had just hit on Callie.  Who was watching Arizona.  Who was trying not to watch Callie.  Cause Callie still wants so badly to be with Arizona…and that kiss in the elevator pretty much said the same for Arizona – such a bittersweet moment.  Wonder how they’ll figure out this mess.  Stay tuned.

Grey's Anatomy Writer on Last Thursday's Exciting and Dramatic Show!

May 11th, 2010

We’d already discussed the idea of putting our doctors, infamous for their irreverence and dark humor, their ruthless and clever nicknaming of patients, into a lecture on Patient Sensitivity, and this seemed like the perfect patient to tie it to.  Then, I started researching Bailey’s lecture, looking around for the kinds of things that hospitals actually recommend for doctors to do and say, and I found it really telling that almost every program I could find was aimed toward sensitivity to bariatric – obese -- patients.  That’s partly because obesity is an epidemic in this country – more than one-third of Americans are considered clinically obese – and the medical community is racing to catch up.  And also because, sadly, obesity is often called society’s last acceptable prejudice.  So sensitivity to these patients apparently needs to be taught, stressed and re-stressed.

Era Night on Dancing With The Stars

May 11th, 2010

Each pair danced two dances on tonight’s show, one ballroom classic and one Latin.

Nicole and Derek solidified their status as the top competitors with a flawless Paso Doble which garnered 10s from all three judges, leading to the second perfect 30 score in as many weeks.

Niecy Nash is on thin ice however, with a pair of low scores for her Viennese Waltz and Paso Doble.

Here’s a quick scores recap of what went down on the show tonight.

Sexy sambas on Dancing With The Stars

April 27th, 2010

Sexy sambas lit up the dance floor tonight on Dancing With The Stars as the remaining seven couples attempted to wow the judges with more than their moves.

Argentine Rumbas and Sambas were the dances of choice this week, with half the contestants performing one or the other. Following this was a special Swing Dance Marathon where couples were awarded points for the length of time they survived on the floor.

But this week the stars not only had their moves to concentrate on but their costumes as well, having been designated design duties on their own, and their partners, flashy dance outfits.

Nicole solidified her position as the star to beat with another stunning dance with partner Derek, taking 26 points from the judges for their samba. Combined with the 10 points for their win in the Dance Marathon, they sit atop the leader board with 36 points for the week.

Last Night's Episode Recap from the Grey's Writers

April 2nd, 2010

Post by Allan Heinberg on the Grey's Writer Blog

We were interested in exploring the somewhat counterintuitive idea that by accepting our own – and other people’s – limitations, we actually allow ourselves to experience life as it’s really happening – to appreciate it on its own terms, rather than to constantly measure it against impossible expectations.

In the “limitations” draft, Meredith, crippled by the emotionally abusive parenting she received from Ellis and Thatcher, had serious doubts about her ability to be anyone’s mother.  But by essentially parenting Alex and his brother, Aaron, throughout the episode, Meredith discovered she might not make such a terrible mom after all.

Grey's Writer Deborah Cahn Writes About "Push": On Romance and Growing Up

March 12th, 2010

Dating.  Dating is a lot of things.  Fun.  Exhilarating.  Exciting.  Breathtaking.

No.

Occasionally, maybe.  But usually it’s miserable.  It’s a freakshow.  A slog.  Punishment for killing children in a past life, perhaps.  It sucks.  Your heart, your hopes, your dreams, all projected onto some hapless wretch on the other side of the table, who’s using the drink menu to pick his teeth.

The villains cut Randy

February 26th, 2010

It must have been those chickens getting loose but the team bonding sure had some impact on the Heroes as they scalp the villains in a first to eight sumo/bag challenge in a clean sweep.  It's humiliating.

With such an emphatic win to the Heroes, the villains retire to camp to start the inevitable process of cutting one of their own.  Do they go with the weakest player on the team or do they get rid of one of the biggest threats?

You would think that after some of them have played this game two or three times that they would have learnt by now that unless you remove the threat, you put yourself in the difficult situation of having to deal with some very crafty and devious players later off who, like an unwanted mosquito, can be incredibly difficult to get rid of and keep turning up when you don't want to feast on your blood.

Tribal council proves that the majority still haven't learnt this lesson and poor old Randy is extinguished from the game.

Heroes vote off Stephanie

February 26th, 2010

If there's one thing I hate watching in shows like survivor it's seeing people who are physically strong getting hammered by the elements and the environment.  Seeing Boston Rob have a spell of unconsciousness must have sent chills through the villains camp as the reality of the environment they find themselves in impacts their very lives.  How cool must it have been though to come back from that and win the immunity challenge?

While the villains have to deal with nearly losing the very person who seems to be pulling their tribe together, the heroes seem to be falling apart.  It's embarrassing.

For the second week in a row the Heroes get their asses handed to them at the immunity challenge because they just can't get it together and work together as a team.  James just wants to win but first they're going to have to sort out their various differences and stop pulling in multiple directions.

Grey's Writer Recaps Last Week's Flashback Episode

February 22nd, 2010

I admit, I have a bit of an obsession with Richard… an addiction, if you will.

He’s always just so suave, always so collected, and always, cool. SO MANY people have asked me what is to become of him now that he’s drinking again. I only hope this episode serves to address at least some of your many concerns about the Chief.

We had always talked about doing a flashback episode, and from day one, Season One, Shonda has emphasized that Richard and Ellis got together at least partially because of the fact that they were the only black and the only woman resident in their class.

Being outcasts, they were naturally drawn to each other (and passion did the rest). They were residents in the early 80’s and of course the BIG thing about the early 80’s was that weird new disease they eventually called AIDS.
