FLASHPOINT TRAINING DAY, an interactive simulation that gives FLASHPOINT fans the chance to become virtual members of the Strategic Response Unit (SRU), was launched today at CTV.ca.

Now, viewers can gear up for the new season beginning August 6 on CTV with the ultimate virtual SRU training experience.

In an ambitious online extension of the television show, viewers can adopt the role of a rookie recruit and explore SRU tactical and strategic training modules, including the recruitment test, real-time negotiations with a hostage taker, and training in weapons, sniping, tactics, and profiling.

FLASHPOINT TRAINING DAY is shot in HD using live action video scenarios featuring the cast of the hit series. In collaboration with real police force advisors who also appear in the game, players are introduced to the actual weapons and equipment used by police.

In this special Season 3 sneak peek episode, Team One must resolve a standoff at a seedy motel with a fugitive who has shot two police officers and taken a teenager, Paul Wilder (Devon Bostick, ROOKIE BLUE), hostage. At first Paul seems like a good kid in a bad situation, but as the team digs deeper it uncovers chilling secrets that reveal Paul is far from innocent. What began as a standoff ends as a desperate chase through the city's sewer system, and it's up to Sgt. Parker (Enrico Colantoni) to stop Paul from making a mistake that will change him forever.

Earlier this month CTV announced the pick-up of a fourth season which will begin production in Toronto for the 2010/2011 season. Following its television broadcast, the Season 3 sneak peek will be available on demand on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca.

North Americans can’t get enough FLASHPOINT! Three episodes into its Season 2 summer run, encore episodes of Canada’s most-watched original drama series are averaging 1.1 million viewers Friday nights at 9 p.m. ET on CTV.

Last Friday’s episode was the most-watched primetime program in North America, with 1.08 million viewers in Canada and 6.95 million in the United States. In both countries, FLASHPOINT nearly doubled the audience of its lead-in, an encore episode of MEDIUM.

In Canada, FLASHPOINT was the #1 primetime program not only among total viewers, but among all key demos as well, with week-to-week growth in key adult demos. In the United States, FLASHPOINT has seen ratings growth since its season premiere three weeks ago, and grew throughout the hour in both A18-49 and A25-54.

Following one of its most successful seasons ever for original Canadian programming, CTV unveiled today its 2010-2011 Canadian television package.

The network has renewed its entire scripted slate of five original series, ordered a new daytime series, and confirmed the premiere date for its award-winning Top 20 hit dance competition series.

Delivering more viewers to Canadian programming than any other network, the roster of original programming totals nearly 100 hours of prime-time Canadian programming on CTV alone during the 2010-2011 season.

CTV reveals today a first look at the sizzling summer schedule anchored by returning favourites and fresh new series, including the highly-anticipated new summer drama SCOUNDRELS (June 20), the return of LAW & ORDER: CI (June 20) and the new reality game series DOWNFALL (June 22).
