satisfactionSatisfaction’s Luke Macfarlane is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling by making the transition from TV to stage to film.

The London, Ont., native has returned to Canada after a five year stint on American series Brothers & Sisters to take up the role of Jason alongside Leah Renee (The Playboy Club) and Ryan Belleville (Almost Heroes).

The 33-year-old hopes to follow a similar career path to that of Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling, as he feels they are “guys who were able to straddle everything.” Continue reading »

Super Channel has announced the premiere date of the seventh season of the drama as Thursday, July 4 at 10pm ET.

Jeffrey Donovan will be back as Michael alongside abrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell, Sharon Gless, Coby Bell and special guests Jack Coleman (Heroes), Adrian Pasdar (Political Animals) and Stephen Martines (The Closer).

The new season promises to “uncover the details” of the secret deal Michael made at the end of season six.

DeviousMaidsEva Longoria has defended her new series Devious Maids against criticism that hit stereotypes Latino women.

The Lifetime series is yet to hit the air but already multiple sources have begun criticising it for stereotyping Latino women as housekeepers in the US.

“[These maids are] the moral compass of the show,” executive producer Longoria said. “For our show to even have five Latino women … The fact is that we do make up a large part of the domestic workers. When someone criticizes that, it’s saying why are you showing your story? That’s so stereotypical, I always think. You’re telling me their story’s not worth telling. That means they’re not complex. CanadianIdolThis week marks a special anniversary for Canadian reality TV and in particular, Ben Mulroney.

It is ten years this week since Canadian Idol burst onto the screen and catapulted host Mulrony into the spotlight as much as the contestants – which let’s not forget included the now mega-popular Carly Rae Jepsen.

“It was not a foregone conclusion it was going to be successful,” recalls Mulroney. “If you look at the jaded, cynical members of the press … they were convinced this was not a Canadian thing to do. ‘We don’t do stuff like this…. We don’t celebrate the way that the Americans do.’

BroadchurchOne of the breakout hits of British television this year will soon be gracing Canadian screens.

ITV crime drama Broadchurch – which will no doubt go down as the best drama on British screens this year – is coming to Showcase this August.

Former Doctor Who actor David Tennant features alongside Olivia Colman (The Iron Lady) in the eight-part mystery series that comes from the pen of Chris Chibnall (Torchwood, Law & Order: UK).

Tennant stars as Detective Inspector Alec Hardy, a new-to-town, newly promoted police detective partnered with local Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman; The Iron Lady,Peep Show) who have been assigned to investigate Danny’s death. With a personal tie to the case, Ellie must find reserves of patience and toughness to negotiate a professional relationship with the difficult and unyielding Hardy. Continue reading »
