The Top 7 perform live on the Idol stage as Tom Jones coaches the competitors on U.K. Pop Hits.

Seven singers remain to perform in next week’s “U.K. Hits” episode, featuring previously confirmed guest star Tom Jones.

The superstar will mentor the Top 7 for the Performance Episode airing Monday, August 4 at 9 p.m. ET and then perform live on the Canadian Idol stage the following night, Tuesday, August 5 at 8 p.m. ET.

The Canadian Idol Top 7 performing “U.K. Hits” next week are:

She has sold more than 50 million albums and is one of Canada’s most enduring national treasures – and she’s coming to Canadian Idol. CTV announced tonight that multiple Grammy and JUNO Award winning singer Anne Murray will become the latest powerhouse mentor to share her considerable expertise and work with the Canadian Idol finalists as they perform selections from her legendary songbook on Monday, August 18 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV. Murray will then perform on the Canadian Idol results episode on Tuesday, August 19 at 8 p.m. ET when the remaining Top 4 are revealed (visit idol.CTV.ca to confirm local listings).

Murray joins an extensive list of accomplished musicians, including Bryan Adams, Tom Jones and Simple Plan, working with this season’s crop of Canadian Idol finalists. Tonight, former Bush front man Gavin Rossdale performed live on the program after mentoring the competitors for this weeks “Unplugged” episodes.

As Canada said goodbye to the latest competitor to be eliminated, Quebec’s Katherine St-Laurent, Canadian Idol host Ben Mulroney revealed the first group of music stars who will be appearing and performing on the series throughout the rest of the season. The remaining Top 8 finalists will work with some of the world’s most accomplished artists, including Canadian icon Bryan Adams, rockers Simple Plan, the legendary Tom Jones and – in next week’s “Unplugged” episode - former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. Additional guest stars will be announced as the season progresses.

Another week, another theme. This week the top 9 can perform any rock and roll song as long as the original artist is dead.

Tonight there will be songs from the 1950's all the way up to 2003.

Ten Media Idol finalists – but only one winner. Some kept to the original track, while others changed things up with a remix, but each Media Idol finalist did it for charity. In the end, Ann MacGregor of Pictou County, Nova Scotia’s CKEC 94.1 East Coast FM captured the highest number of votes for her enthusiastic performance of “The Twinkle Remix: Part II,” her own creative rendition of the classic “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”

The 10 regional finalists competing on behalf of media outlets across the country spent three days in Toronto this week getting an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Canadian Idol experience. It was a whirlwind trip, as each of the competitors shot their final Top 10 videos, which appeared on idol.CTV.ca for the public to vote on once more.

Nine remain in the race for the Canadian Idol title as Hamilton’s Adam Castelli was revealed tonight as receiving the fewest number of votes this week. The Top 9 finalists now begin preparing for the next round of the competition when they pay homage to some of their favourite departed musicians during Rock and Roll Heaven week on Monday, July 21 at the new time of 9 p.m. ET on CTV (go to idol.CTV.ca to confirm local listings).

Then, on Tuesday, July 22 at 8 p.m. ET during the Top 9 results show, Season 5 runner-up and fan favourite Jaydee Bixby returns home to Canadian Idol for a special performance.
